Blizzardilia by Tim (Stolen Faith)

As I left my place of employment on the fine snowy night of April 5th, two-thousand-and-three, I must say I was damned excited for that nights show. Upon arriving at Pant's house, however, for a bit of practice, my speaker cabinet welcomed me with a most inconsiderate greeting-- a broken fucking input jack! I attribute this to the cold, though it's hard to say... I have glued input jacks back together on occasion, so hope for my godforsaken cab remained. But after and hour of attempting to superglue the jack, and some world-class sharp tongue usage, I could see that the jack would not be fixed. So, as we embarked upon loading the cars, we could only hope that someone could lend us one....

Arriving at Drakula's, our equipment prayers were indeed answered. At the risk of thanking him to death: thanks again (you know who you are). After setting up, we eagerly awaited showgoers and the go ahead. Attendance was (I thought) surprisingly low-- I figured people would be excited to see this show, especially at the end of spring break. There seemed to be just 15 of us though.

To put it nicely, we (Stolen Faith) were fucking horrible. Despite being eager to play this show, I just don't really feel the music when the guitar and bass are two beats away from each other. Paul said he couldn't hear a thing. After the first couple songs, I didn't even feel like singing. Instead I stood non-chalantly and eyed everyone. We were all a bit tired-- which is not an excuse... Mark's dad was there... I could see people bobbing their heads politely. Surprisingly, not one person told us to turn down the suck! People were supportive, which was nice, even if they were just bein' polite. But... what can ya do?

Voice of Simon was next, and as I missed their last show, to this one I paid special attention. And I was not dissapointed. Holy living fuck! Jesus H. Christ in a chicken basket! Excuse my tongue, boys and girls, but the Voice kicked ass!!! They were amazing! Though I don't know a thing about drums, Brian's crazy cymbal-happy style was awesome. Chad seemed to be his usual flailing self while still somehow making it all sound good. And Levi's guitar work sounded so damn spot on... I am indeed jealous of these three cats. I wish them the best in recording, and am anxious to hear it.

Then, THEN, after Voice came Brazilia. Their guitarist also had amp difficulty and had to borrow a cab, while I marveled at his left handed, double bound, semi hollow telecaster. You know, if I hadn't used up all my exclamations in the VoS section, I might still have words left to express my opinion of an exceptional band. But, Brazilia was just that-- exceptional, great, awesome, amazing, damn good! What else can I say? They have my support. " Imagine the best band you've heard, but ten times better." Nicely put, JD. You better catch them when they come back. Really nice guys, I might add, which counts a lot in my book. Despite our level 11 "suck" this was one of the best show I've ever seen. The people who were there were damn lucky.
