Last Great Liar 6/24/03

another love affair, by hoppie #1

last night's show had an amazing atmosphere, especially considering that it was a tuesday night show. first up was one car pile up, a band that gets better and better every time i see them. i look forward to seeing their next show, because it's amazing to watch the technical and energetic progression that they seem to have made at every show.

next up were the beautiful stylings of voice of simon. this set was slightly more toned down than most of their shows, probably due to the fact that chad had broken so much of his own equipment in previous sets that he was forced to use borrowed equipment. nonetheless, i enjoyed the prolonged periods of swaying in between kick ass riffs. i must also go on record as saying that this is the fourth time i have complimented them on a set (cough, levi, cough).

then last great liar made their way to the front of the room. i have no way to describe their music other than entirely amazing. i was floored by the hard melodies and fantastic energy that seeped from the band and into the crowd, creating one of the best relationships between a touring band and the cheyenne audience i've seen in a long time. i was releived to realize i had had the foresight to bring enough money to buy their latest recording, which is extremely entertaining and not at all lacking in said energy and musical prowess.

finally, the loveable happy bad day began to serenade us with the energy and fun that we have all come to expect from these scenesters. they gave a heartfelt goodbye to kyle, who's leaving us for some sort of southern excursion, and won't be to an olivebranch show for another three weeks, complete with an impromptu rendition of std, the song we all love to hate.

thanks to all who played and attended. you're what keeps this scene alive.
