Scab Party 7/03/03

title party, by Tim

After completing a most amusing band practice-- along with a bit o' banter-- the SF litter (minus Babyface Lankford) went to the show. audience attendance was rather shabby. also, one of tha bands decided not to show (or something like that.) BUT, do not let my somber overtones pull the wool over thine eyes-- this, my dears, was a kick ass show.

the first band to play was Scab Party from Corvallis, OR. that's right, no local bands in sight. Scab Party: oooohhh, billy. their symbol stand was a broom. their equipment was minimal and miniature for a touring band. Dare I call it "econo"? (eh, eh?) after their first song, i was dropping minutemen references like crazy. (which no one understood, 'cept mark.) when i say econo, i mean it in the best possible sense-- these people were fucking great! short songs with clean and distorted guitar, female singer (who also had a Filth patch on her backpack and played banjo too for some songs), what could be called a whistling chorus, and so much fucking soul. They had the most fun of probably any band i've seen at drakulas. And i loved every minute of it. i took them home afterwards, and they were ultra nice and gratefull- plus, i got a tape and you didn't.( folky punk stooges meets minutement) marvelous. where were you levi? the next band, The Few were pretty good, uh not my style atoll, better then typical but still typical. songs about girls... and shit... i want to comliment somewhere, i mean i stayed in the room... it's just that well, they seemed bored and sad and it only made me tired. You can't dance to pain right? unless of course you are one of the dylans. superb.

Love,

*****Tim
