The new dates come in support of the Crowes' recent "Lions" album (V2), which debuted at No. 20 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 132,000 copies in the U.S. to date, according to SoundScan. The album's second single, "Soul Singin'," is No. 23 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart this week. A video for the track can be sampled on the group's official Web site and is in regular rotation on VH1.

The Black Crowes celebrated the completion of their new album, Lions, by taking roost at a Manhattan nightclub Saturday (February 3) and performing a 10-song set in front of a celebrity-studded crowd that included Mick Jagger and Moby.
Taking the stage of The Bank shortly after midnight, frontman Chris Robinson and sibling guitarist Rich Robinson led the Crowes through four new songs to kick off the concert, an invitation-only bash hosted by V2 Records owner Richard Branson.
After premiering Lions tracks "Midnight From the Inside Out," "Lickin'," "Greasy Grass River" and "Young Man, Old Man," the Black Crowes then rolled out several familiar cuts, including "Seeing Things," "Horsehead," "Wiser Time" and "Thorn in My Pride."
With new bassist Andy Hess in tow, the Black Crowes finished up the evening by enlisting foreign aid on a pair of numbers. Gordie Johnson, lead singer and guitarist for Canada's Big Sugar, laid down some slide guitar on a cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well."
Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones, a V2 Records label-mate and past UK touring partner of the Black Crowes, helped close out the evening by singing lead vocals on "Twice as Hard," the first track off the Crowes' 1990 debut, Shake Your Money Maker.
According to the Crowes' publicists, producer Don Was, guitarist Peter Frampton, singer Nona Hendryx, glam rock band Spacehog and actors Liv Tyler, Liev Schreiber and Chris Robinson's mother-in-law, Goldie Hawn, were among the guests who turned out for the record completion party.
Produced by Was and recorded at a studio converted from an old Yiddish theatre on Manhattan's Lower East Side, the Black Crowes' Lions is due in mid-May.
The Black Crowes are still looking for a remedy - a legal one, this time.
On Wednesday, February 28, the band sued Lloyd's of London, claiming that the insurance firm failed to honor its agreement with the group after Jimmy Page's back injury forced the cancellation of nearly a month's worth of tour dates last fall.
The Crowes and Page took out an insurance policy from Lloyd's to cover any losses that might come from canceled gigs, according to a statement issued by the Atlanta-based rockers. After a successful run of shows in June and July, Page hurt his back, forcing an end to the tour, which featured a mix of Black Crowes tunes and classics from Page's former band Led Zeppelin.
The suit, filed in Los Angeles, alleges that Lloyd's failed to compensate the band for scrapped September and October dates in the U.S. and Europe, including a planned co-headlining run with the Who at Madison Square Garden.
The suit alleges the band suffered "great financial loss" from missed income and wasted preparation expenses.
A spokesperson for Lloyd's of London had no comment.

Crowes and The Summer Tour (4/21/00, 3 p.m. ET) - The Black Crowes are very busy these days. Currently in pre-production for the recording of their next album, which begins May 9, the group is also making plans for its summer tour with Jimmy Page, with rehearsals set to begin May 21. Many fans and observers assumed Page and the Crowes would continue the association they began during a handful of shows in 1999, which resulted in the Internet album Live At The Greek. However, Crowes lead singer Chris Robinson tells LAUNCH that the artists themselves weren't as certain. "We didn't really plan on that," he said of the album. "These things have kind of just fallen into place. You know, it's funny -- I did an interview with somebody the other day, and I got really frustrated with him. 'Are you not listening to me, kid? Jimmy Page is a musician who happened to be in a band called Led Zeppelin that we all love. We're musicians who have a band called the Black Crowes, and we got together 'cause we wanted to play music together.' You know, it's not really that difficult a concept. There's no marketing strategy." Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes -- who will be sharing a road crew and production with the The Who this summer -- are slated to kick off their tour on June 24 in Chicago. -- Gary Graff, Detroit
The Black Crowes have fired bass guitar player Sven Pipien and replaced him with Greg Rzab, according to the band's official website. Rzab has played with several well-known blues acts, including Buddy Guy, Tab Benoit and Otis Rush. Pipien joined the Black Crowes in 1997, when he replaced Johnny Colt, the band's original bass player. Pipien played on the Crowes' 1999 album "By Your Side" and on the Crowes-Jimmy Page concert album "Live at the Greek." Rumors of a rift between Pipien and the other members of the band have been circulating for much of the year, but, according to the website, his dismissal was a recent development.
