April 30th,
We began the day at our general target area, my home in Graham,TX. I didn't think we should leave until something was going up in our area or to the west/southwest. Storms begin to fire along the Red River near Wichita Falls but we decided that that may squall out too quickly to produce anything. Apparently we missed a brief tornado near Petrolia, TX. Storms finally begin to fire just to our west in southern Throckmorton and southwestward in Shackelford counties. We left Graham @1pm watching the storm west of Graham. As, it struggled for some reason and moved northeast, we decdided to head toward the Albany storm. As we approached, it was turning HP with very broad, slow rotation at the base with precip wrapping around the back side. This storm was tornado warned all the way to Young Co. We gave up on it south of Breckenridge on 183 because it was obvious we would not be able to see anything in there anyway. We target our next prey developing west of Eastland. This storm was a monster and soon become HP and undercut by the cold front. We began looking for gustnadoes along the leading edge. We saw a few funnels but no rotation on the ground. Once again we gave up and headed southwest for our finale. We then target the storm in Runnels and Coleman counties that were being tornado warned. As we approached Brownwood, we notice what looked like a wall cloud near Santa Anna. As we got closer, we could tell it was getting "cold fronted" very badly. I was a high based January storm! NWS in San Angelo disappointed me very badly. They said spotters reported a rotating wall cloud and a tornado was forming. The damn thing was getting undercut by the cold front and therre was rising motion on the leading edge. There was NO threat of a TORNADO! There are a lot of idots out there that need to not be reporting anything. Just sit there and SHUT UP! The town of Brownwood was in panic of a tornado with north winds of 20mph. I don't think so people.
Anyway, not a bad chase, although I am tired of "freezing my ass off" during a storm chase!

Pics coming soon!
