There is a threat for a few tornadoes before a squall line takes over with high winds the main threat along with scattered large hail.
Target:Menard, TX
Summary:
Chase began shortly after noon. My chase partner for the day will be Mickey. We arrived in Brady around 3 o'clock. Upon our arrival we knew this would be a very tough chase. It was still overcast in the area with low visibilities, plus we were expecting a squall line.
3:55pm, we fianlly here some action going on. Tornado warning for Schleicher Co! This was still about 60 miles to our west. We took 190 from Brady to Menard. The doppler indicated tornado was expected to be in Menard at 4:10pm. As we approach the storm just east of Menard it was very hard to see. We knew we were dealing with a squall line so there wasn't much we could do but proceed with caution as we were over taken by rain and hail. The storm moved east and produced a few more tornado warnings but all we could see was rain and hail. Later on, it developed a pretty intense shelf cloud near Cherokee. It was fun, anyway, even if all we got was swollowed up by a squall line.
