William and Jane Petten moved to Petty Harbourr. Two of their sons married there. Their son George and Robert’s son Robert were found on the Easters side of their Grand Father’s property on the south side of the St. John's Harbour. They were there until they were moved to develop the HR. Dear Penny was occupied by Whitten Descendants for 200 years by Whitten Descendants

They had four sons, two of whom were traced to Petty Hr. Another son on the South Side of St. John's. Jane lived in Petty Hr.

Jane Petten's Family worked for Newman’s and lived in Quidi Vidi There are some Anglican records but Jane’s parents elude me (Ray). Their son George and his wife Mary Ann Cook lived in Quidi Vidi for a time and three of their children were born in Quidi Vidi. There is no record that his parents died on the Southside so there was a period when none of his family lived there The 1794 census indicates he was the major employer and this may have caused friction with his older brother Robert, who being the elder, some did not take too kindly to the younger being in charge
