Frostey

I had a little kitten

Frostey was his name
He loved me very dearly
And I loved him the same.

He grew to be a full-grown cat

He loved to roam and fight
He always came in the door meowing
He was looking for food to eat.

He always seemed to be hungry

You'd think we had him on a diet
And if he didn't get enough
He'd root the other cats from their plate.

Nobody loved him but me

They treated him mean and cruel
And then one day they took him away
And left him far from home.

He never found his way back home

I miss him every single day
They did not think about my feelings
They just wanted him out of their way.

Frostey was a loving cat

He loved me all his life
Now he's gone--I don't know where
My happiness is blotted with strife.

Dreams

Some dreams hang onto you

Some dreams won't let go
Some dreams you hang onto
Sometimes you find it's the same dream.

An idea gets inside your mind

A single thought that grows
Then it stays there years and years
And becomes just a useless dream.

Youthful dreams are hardest

When it comes to letting go
They try to stay inside your mind
And return again to haunt you.

When you finally realize

All you had was a youthful dream
Your mind reluctantly lets go
But your heart stubbornly hangs on.

It may take a lifetime

And spoil many a year
Digging into your heart and mind
Refusing to be completely evicted.

Then you have to use your mind

And bring your memory into play
And bury your dreams forever
And live you life day by day.
