BODY & FRAME American passenger cars only, Minimum of 108” wheel base any measurement under 107.5" will be declared illegal. Novas are allowed, Camero’s are NOT. All bodies must match frame. No metric bodies on early model frames etc. All wheelbase measurements can be no less than 1" less than factory specs. Complete bumper-to-bumper steel body with both front and rear firewalls. Fender wells may be cut out. Uni-bodied frames may be tied together. All spoilers limited to 6 inches. You may sheet metal off inside of car as an option. Routine maintenance on the appearance of your car should be a top priority, TOBA officials if need be will enforce a probation period to cars that are not being properly looked after. A one week probation for a car not meeting TOBA appearance standards and after that week we will force those cars to start at the back of each feature until standards have been met.

SUSPENSION Quick release steering wheel is ok. Racing replacement type steel shocks that have stock mounts are ok using stock chassis mounts, such as AFCO or PRO shocks etc. Front and rear springs may be replaced with same diameter spring any weight of choice. No adjustable leaf spring spacers. Quick Steering Boxes ARE allowed. After market bushings are allowed. Stock upper & lower control arms both front & rear. Spring spacers are allowed, No Adjustable Spring Spacers allowed unless they are used as spacers and are fixed from adjusting. Metric cars only are allowed to reinforce the front upper control arms with no bigger than 3/8" rebar or 1/4" x 1" flat bar for safety reasons. No mono balljoints or bushings.

WHEELS & TIRES Any 8 inch or 10 inch wide steel wheel is legal. (1) Bead Lock is allowed & can be placed anywhere on car. Tires must have DOT on them and CANNOT be a racing recap. No McCreary’s or Racing Hoosiers allowed. 2 inch offset is maximum on all wheels. Tires may be grooved and or sipped if you choose to. No softening of tires allowed.

WEIGHT No minimum weight rule.

ENGINE LOCATION #1 spark plug even with balljoint or forward. #1 spark plug may not extend behind upper ball joint on any car.

ENGINE Cast iron OEM blocks only. After market steel stock style engine mounts are allowed. Maximum cubic inch is 364 chevy, ford or dodge. Maximum engine boring is .060”. Aftermarket OEM Replacement Stock Appearing Rods and Crankshafts only. No H Beam, No polishing, No machine work allowed! Eagle, Scat and such brands are good. Stock Stroke 3.48. No 400 blocks. After market rod bolts may be used. Only OEM replacement style pistons with four (4) equal valve relieves are allowed. No floating wrist pins, pins must be press fit. Flat top pistons or dish pistons only, no domed pistons. . No gear drives. Any valve cover and air breather combination. Intake must be cast iron with no modifications, no marine intakes, bowtie, high rise or aluminum intakes. Starting 2005 Moroso Part # MOR23970 will be mandetory, location of this part is yet to be determined and will be announced at a later date.

FORD ENGINES The following ford specs 289, 302 or 351 blocks only. Any cast iron OEM ford head allowed. No aftermarket head or Boss head allowed. Fords must use Schoenfeld Headers and are allowed to use the following part #361, #362, #562, #562-4B #563-4B. No other header manufactor will be accepted for technical inspections reasons. Maximum valve size is 1.94 intake and exhaust 1.60. Flat Top pistons. All other rules are same as chevy rules.

CAMSHAFT Hydraulic valve lifters required. EXCEPTION: Roller hydraulic valve lifters not permitted. At inspection, driver will be required to choose Option 1 or Option 2 as to how his camshaft will tested. Test result under either will be final. Option 1. Camshaft lobe lift is not to exceed .296". Camshaft lobe lift will be measured from the valve lifter. For inspection purposes, push rods, indicator extensions, etc., may be used by inspector, at his discretion. No minimum engine vacuum level is required. Option 2. Minimum engine vacuum level of 15" at 850 engine rpm required. No camshaft lobe lift limit.

HEADS No closed chambered heads allowed such as 461, 462, etc. 305 heads are allowed however they must not have valves larger than 1.84” unless you have a very rare set that has 1.94” valves. Yes they do exist and we have those casting numbers. Heads may be flat milled for surfacing reasons only, no angle milling allowed. OEM or Aftermarket Replacement stock appearing rocker arms required. No roller rockers; no roller tip rockers permitted. No guide plates nor stud girdles permitted.Studs may be pinned or they can be screw in w/o guide plates. Any single valve spring with dampener is legal, no double or triple springs allowed. No aluminum heads, no special order heads or factory special order heads. Any open chamber cast iron steel OEM factory production straight plug head is allowed that meets the described requirements. Most common castings are 882, 993, 487, 441 as a rule these are the most popular castings.

GM heads are limited to 1.94” intake valves and 1.50” exhaust valves. No porting, polishing, or port matching allowed.

Any work done in the bowl area must be done with a 360 degree cut, with the valve guide as the center point.

Polylocks are ok.

The following engine parts can be aftermarket and will not be checked: water pump, pulleys, radiator, mechanical fuel pump, harmonic balancer, spark plug wires, and starter.

IGNITION Ignition must remain and be completely stock OEM replacement parts only. Stock HEI ignition is allowed. Any cap mounted coil allowed as long as it mounts to the Cap. Any stock appearing 4 pin ignition module allowed. No open circuit board modules. No MSD, any after market, or GM externally mounted boxes allowed.

EXHAUST SYSTEM Headers are optional. Any street or racing header. No 180 degree headers, No crossover headers, No step header, Must be inside chassis type. No Ram Horn Corvette style (2 1/2" port exhaust) stock exhaust manifolds. Exhaust pipes must extend past driver seat. Mufflers will be inforced depending if the track mandates it.

CARBURETOR & FUEL No fuel injection, GMs must run 4-barrel rochester quadrajet or a Holley #4412 - 2 barrel. Fords must run Motorcraft 4 barrel or can use #4412. No machine work on carbs. Holley’s may remove choke housing on #4412. Rochester 2 barrels will be allowed. Holley carburetors can be mounted on top of 4-barrel cast iron intake but with only an adaptor and not a spacer. Gasoline only. Racing fuel allowed. No additives allowed. No alcohol.

TRANSMISSION Automatic’s must have a working converter, must also have reverse and this will be checked. No direct drives or valved pumps. Power glides are fine. Manual Transmissions must have all working gears. No mini clutches, no ram clutches. 10.5” minimum clutch diameter. 11" Minimum Working Torque Convertors. All flywheels must be steel, no aluminum flywheels. All standards must have a scattershield for safety reasons. Transmission coolers are allowed. Must have a front driveshaft loop. Driveshaft must be painted white.

REARENDS All rear ends must match make of car. 9” ford only for ford cars. GM rear-ends only for GM cars. 8.5” rear-end allowed in any GM Car. Aftermarket gears are allowed. Aftermarket axles are allowed. Rearends must be locked at all times, welded or spooled. No exceptions!

GEARBOXES & FRONTEND All gearboxes must be factory for make and model. No aftermarket gearboxes. Tie rods, center links, Idler arms, ball joints must be over counter parts from any local parts house, not after market racing pieces. Quick Steering Boxes ARE allowed.

BRAKES You must have at least 3 working brakes. No adjustable proportioning valves of any kind. Must use stock brakes for year make and model. Aftermarket pedal assembly IS allowed however you are allowed only 1 master cylinder.

ROLL CAGE We recommend safety first, protect the driver as much as possible with the four post inside car. Door bars and cross bars from inside car are highly recommended. Front and rear loops are allowed to help preserve front and rear frame horns. Must have front and rear bumpers. No exposed support bars anywhere on car except to protect rear lower quarter panels behind each rear tire, only a single bar that is welded from the frame and then extending/attaching to the rear bumper. Axle protector bar can not extend any farther out than outer edge of the tires. Bumpers can be a shell of a stock bumper covering bars. (1) Nerf bar per side is allowed only protecting doors. Nerf bars are not to extend any wider then tires. Front and rear bumper loops allowed but must be keep between frame horns and not to extend any wider. Use only two attachments back to roll cage. Also any open ended tubes must be turned into body with no sharp edges exposed.

COOLERS Any cooler is allowed. Rear-end, transmission, power steering, etc. Radiator must be mounted in stock location. Gasoline cool cans are exceptable.

FLOOR & WALLS Front Firewall must be utilized! No sheet metal front firewalls! Floor may be split to allow firewall to be pushed back for engine and header clearance. Driver's compartment must be protected from front end fire and rear fire. Inside of car can be sheetmetaled off around the driver cockpit and if so you can eliminate the back seat floor board and firewall. Stock floor pan must protect the driver and seat.

SPOILERS We are allowing spoilers but they can only be attached to trunk only no quarter panels and trunk. Spoiler’s maximum height is 6 inches.

SAFETY Must have a racing style seat, which includes a 5-point seat belt harness. Must use window net but can be fish net style. Must have kill switch mounted on dashboard or next to driver on roll cage and be labeled. All drivers will be required to use fullface Snell approved helmets along with a full fire retardant drivers suit. Gloves and shoes are recommended.

Protests concerning anything that happens on the track such as rough driving, or a call against you must also go through the Competition Director . Upon protest the Competition Director will inform the Assistant Director who is in charge of the officials and the on track calls. Only drivers can present a protest. The Assistant Director and officials will review any call made for a final decision!

All rules with be enforced by the Texas Outlaw Bombers Technical Team led by the Chief Stewart who will oversee any tear-downs. All protest must go through the Competition Director. Only drivers can protest. Only drivers that are on the lead lap may qualify to protest. The driver protesting must be on lead lap and go straight to tech pad in his car and present his protest to the Competition Director. Purse will be frozen until protest is resolved. Protester is also required to put up the protest money in cash. If car is found legal then he collects protest money put up. Upon protest you can request a tear down of the following parts.

(1) Carburetor removed/inspection. $75

(2) Both Carb and Intake removed/inspection $100

(3) Valve Cover removed/inspection $75

(4) Head removed/inspection $150

(5) Misc. Requested inspections $ Competition Director's Call
