Jasmine stared at her reflection in her bathroom mirror, with tears in her
eyes. People told her she was beautiful. She let her fingers go through her
thick, long, dark brown hair. Yeah, she was pleased with her looks,
especially the eyes. She smiled through her tears when she thought of the
reactions she got from people (mostly the boys) because of her eyes. When
their eyes met hers it seamed like they couldn't stop looking, they couldn't
look away. The color…hm…. she took a closer look…it's kinda hard to explain.
They're blue, that's not hard to see, but the kind of blue…like a mix of the
ocean and the sky, with a constant sparkle in them. That's the best
explanation she could give. She'd always wondered where this blue color had
come from. By the look at her, with the dark hair and tanned skin, you would
think her eyes would be brown. She was sure it was the eyes that made her
look so 'special' as people called it, everyone she knew, except for her
boyfriend…
Her smile disappeared, and her hand went up to her face to feel if her cheek
had started to swell.
She had met Sebastian about a year ago on her 17th birthday. He was a couple
of years older and had moved in to the town. She remembered the first time
she saw him. It was a hot summer day when she went with her friends to buy
some ice-cream. He worked at the ice-cream shop . He was so good looking
with his curly blond hair and green eyes. It was love at first sight. He
wouldn't take her money for the ice-cream cause he wanted to give it to her.
(Jasmine smiled at that memory) So she insisted he should come to a beach
party later that night, that she and her friends were going to.
The two of them started dating, and became a couple. He was so sweet to her,
a dream boyfriend. But he changed… He got so easily jealous, and he started
to flirt with her friends.
The first time he hit her, she couldn't believe it. But he told her he was
so sorry and he wouldn't do it again. He lied. He did hit her again, and
again, and again…
She didn't understand why she hadn't left him earlier…
But now she had had enough. She broke up with him tonight, that's when he
hit her in the face, right by the eye. But this was the last time, she
thought, she was through with him.
She smiled to herself, proudly. She was going to start a new life without
Sebastian. But it wasn't going to be easy, this wasn't a big town and they
had the same friends… If only she didn't have to see him again… then this
would be so much easier.
She took a towel and soaked it with cold water, and put it up against her
cheek to ease the pain. She took one last look in the mirror and then turned
of the light to go to bed.
