Nick and Kelly: Version Two

Part One: Some Kind of Miracle

Prayed for an angel to come in the night and turn some sweet light on me Found only strangers Then you came to me Just when I'd given up, you gave me love My world was tumbling down You turned it around

Baby, you, you're some kind of miracle Oh baby, you are, you're a miracle to me

Sweet revelation, that look in your eyes, your touch in the night I found the sweetest salvation in your arms, baby Warm as the morning sun, your tender love came and just lifted me up Look what you've done

Baby, you, you're some kind of miracle Oh, you, you, you are, you're a miracle to me

Oh... you brought joy to my heart I found love in your arms See what you've done for me, you set my soul so free You came and you gave me the love that I need

Oh, you are, you're some kind of miracle Baby, yeah, you are, you're a miracle, a miracle to me Baby, you are, oh, a miracle to me

-Some Kind of Miracle; Kelly Clarkson

(CD: Thankful)

[Written by Diane Warren]

Kelly Clarkson sat with her back against the wall of the lounge. Five minutes until the show started. She was both excited and nervous and when she turned her hand over and looked at her wrist, she could see her pulse beating beneath her skin. It was the first show of the three month tour she was headlining alongside former Backstreet Boys member, Nick Carter. She'd been on the American Idol tour once the show had ended, but this was the first time she would be performing full sets virtually every night for the next three months.

And the fans were excited. There hadn't been a joint tour as highly anticipated since Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera's Justified and Stripped tour.

"Good luck, Kelly."

She jumped at the sudden voice and looked up to find Nick Carter himself standing in front of her, a sweet smile on his face. Before she knew it, her heart was beating even faster than it had been before. He was beautiful and, God forbid... she was star struck.

"Kelly, we're all going out tonight if you want to join us," Nick's guitarist offered with a friendly smile.

Kelly couldn't believe how nice everybody was. If this was how polite all stars were, she'd have an easy time in the Hollywood scene. But still, she was nervous to accept the invitation to go partying with Nick and his crew. After all, she'd practically wet her pants the last time she'd seen him, and all he had said were three words.

"You in there?"

Kelly laughed as the guy--whose name she still didn't know--waved his hand in front of her face, attempting to regain her attention. "Yeah, sorry. Um... are you sure Nick would appreciate me tagging along?"

He gave her a sly, knowing smile. "Trust me... he'd 'appreciate' it."

"Are you sure about this?" he mumbled without breaking contact, his mouth hot against hers.

She nodded. Yes, she was sure. She was so sure it scared her. She'd never been so sure of anything in her life. This man would be the death of her, she knew it.

And for the first time in her life, Kelly was about to sleep with a man she'd just met that day.

"I need to hear you say it. Tell me you're sure."

"I'm sure, I'm sure."

Having received the verbal consent he'd wanted, Nick lay her down gently on the bed.

The passion between them was amazing. And secret.

Kelly couldn't believe it... she was in a secret relationship with a rock star. It was so against anything she had ever believed in, so not something she would want her mother ever to know of... but, at the same time, extremely sexy.

When they were in the spotlight, they looked as though they were nothing more than friends. In fact, they were so good at keeping their secret, there hadn't even been any rumors started that they were an item. But behind closed doors, things were steamy and tender and romantic and so sweet. She couldn't believe how wonderful Nick was. He was her dream come true and before she knew it, she'd fallen in love with him.
