By now Liz was about to pass out, so Nick reached for her hand and squeezed it as he tried to comfort her. Kevin was talking to the other man, but from the back no one could tell what they were saying. That man’s car was right next to them making a lot of noise and so they couldn’t tell what they were talking about. The other man said something and Kevin shook his head and said no very loudly. Everyone is the car was curious as to what they were talking about so Howie leaned over towards the middle seat and whispered in Heather’s ear. “What are they talking about?” He asked. Heather shrugged her shoulders and tried to listen. Kevin said something to the guy and he turned and just stood there a minute. Then Kevin rolled up his window and was about to start up the car. Liz looked out the window and saw the man who Kevin had been talking to pull something out of his pocket and reach down towards the car. Then he stood up and raced off. “That guy just slashed our tire.” Howie said practically yelling. Kevin had been talking to A.J. and hadn’t noticed what had just happened. By now everyone was worried. Some weird guy had just about killed them by running into them and then after talking to Kevin he slashed their tire. “Why would someone do something like that?” Gina asked. “Because they might not like our band or something stupid like that.” Nick replied. A.J. got out of the van to see how much damage had been done. After going all the way around the car and checking every tire he got back in and sighed. “It’s worse than we thought.” He must have had someone else helping because there are 2 more tires that are slashed. We only have 1 spare tire too and that wouldn’t help much.
By now both of the mysterious cars had driven off and they were left alone. Silence filled the van as everyone tried to think of something to do. “Well, I don’t think it’s safe to stay here very long. Those weird guys might come back or something.” A.J. said as he broke the silence. Kevin and Nick nodded. “But it’s not any safer to walk somewhere either, because if they are still around they might come after us.” Nick pointed out. “Yea, but if we were walking at least we would be getting somewhere.” Heather said. So they all agreed that they would walk in the bushes so they would be hidden, and go to the nearest gas station or whatever they found first. They were just getting out to the van when Kevin stopped moving and motioned for everyone else to be quiet. “Oh my gosh,” Liz said in a hushed voice. “It’s another car.” Liz gripped Nick’s hand tighter and those left in the van hurried to get out before they were seen by the oncoming van. Once they were all hidden in the bushes, they stopped moving and watched as the car stopped right next to the van. A man got out of the car and started looking around in the van. “He’s looking for us.” Heather whispered. When he realized that no one was in the van he started looking towards the bushes and then towards a bunch of trees. The man looked very puzzled as he looked back at the van. Then he yelled for another guy to come over there. “Did you find them?” The other guy asked, as he looked in the van. The first guy rolled his eyes and pointed to the van and said. “Does it look like I found them?” Neither one of them said anything for a minute and then one of them said. “Well they must be around here somewhere cuz Joe told me he slashed their tires about 8 minutes ago.” He scratched his head and gazed back into the car. “Come on then, I guess we’ll start looking for them. They’ve got to be here somewhere.” Liz and the others started panicking as the two men started heading in their direction while searching in the bushes. “Come on.” Kevin whispered as he inched his way through the bushes. Quietly they all inched along trying not to make any noise. One wrong move and they would all be caught. Liz was almost paralyzed with fear by somehow she managed to make herself move. She crept along slowly and tried not to step on anything that would make a lot of noise. “If anything happens,” Nick whispered to the girls. “Then I want you to run as fast as you can and get away from here. Don’t stop until you’ve reached a safe place.” The girls nodded as they kept trudging along. Darkness surrounded them and made it very difficult to see where they were stepping. Their pursuers had an advantage, because they had a flashlight. Another car pulled up about 5 minutes after the two guys first started searching for them. “They must have run off Joe.” The first guy said to him. “Keep looking.” Joe said grumbling as he grabbed a flashlight from the second guys hand and stomped off. “They’re around here somewhere and we’re going to find them.” He muttered. “We’re surrounded.” Gina said to Kevin, who nodded. “Ok, our only chance now is to run. We’ll eventually get caught here and maybe we can out run them somehow. Just pair up and stay together. Alright, get ready, get set, go.” They all stood up and took off running. The three men were very surprised and it took them a minute to recover from the shock of seeing them. “Quick, after them.” Joe yelled. It wasn’t a very long chase. Even though they had a head start the man quickly caught up to them “Come on, you’re coming with us.” Joe told them. The only people that got away were Kevin and heaven. Joe slammed everyone else into his van and then sent the other two guys after Kevin and Gina. Liz glanced off to where Kevin and Gina had run off to and prayed that they would reach safety. Joe started the van and floored the gas. Liz fell backwards and hit her head on something. A.J. helped her up and then said. “I wonder where they’re taking us.” Heather shrugged and moved away from the car door, which was rattling. It was locked and they were no handles so they could open the door. They were trapped in there. “Well,” Howie said sighing. “Now I wish we had brought some of our security guys along with us.” No one said anything but they all agreed with him.
