What I Love About "Home For Christmas"

I strongly believe that "Home For Christmas" is absolutely THE best album *NSYNC has ever done. It shows off their distinct harmonies and incredible vocal talent. When the album came out, the critics were also very kind in giving this album great reviews. Being a former music minor, and because it's Christmas Eve, I wanted to share with you the things I love about "Home For Christmas." My comments are broken down by song...pop in your CD's and enjoy! -Olivia

Home For Christmas
* JC sings the lyric "Somethin' happens to ya, when you see that shining star..."
while the chimes descend in the background.
* Lance puts the 'mas' in Christmas as they sing the line "But you can light the fire, 'cause this year I'll be home for Christmas day."
* The gospel choir at the end.

Under My Tree
* Chris actually gets to sing! Yay!
* JC sings "Sleighbells and snow makes us feel close to the stars..." and right after he says 'snow', the others do that "bop bop bop bop bop bop" in descending harmony.
* The line "No one but me, no one but you, sweet rendezvous..."
* The way JC sings "Under my tree" directly following 'rendezvous'.
* The chord near the end when JC, Justin and Chris sing in perfect harmony. "It's beautiful [JC]...beautiful [Justin]...beautiful [Chris] under my tree."

I Never Knew The Meaning Of Christmas
* When they sing "Fa la la...fa la la...fa la la la-la-la-la" in the intro.
* The way JC says 'are' in the line "I wished on a star, and girl here you are..."
* The bridge, where they sing "Singin' la la la la la la la la la la la la la laaaaa..."

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays
* JC and Justin's earlier attempts at song writing.
* The piano intro at the beginning.
* When JC says "Oooh yeah!" right before the first verse.
* The cheesy (yet undeniably CUTE) video they did. =)
* The choreography. (If you saw them on tour, or you taped the Rockefeller Tree Lighting '99 you know what I mean.)

The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)
* This song sounds so doo-wop.
* The way JC and Justin display their versatile vocal range by singing in lower octaves.
* The way the group sings "Shoo be doo wop doo" after JC says "...to see if reindeer really know how to fly."
* Joey says "Merry Christmas" at the end.

I Guess It's Christmas Time
* Chris gets to sing again! Whoo-hoo!
* The orchestrations throughout the song.
* The way this song paints a picture of childhood innocence...and in a way, *NSYNC's innocence before the legal battle.
* Justin says "Merry Christmas" at the end.

All I Want Is You This Christmas
* The saxophone parts, especially the jazzy breakdown in the middle.
* Chris AND Joey sing!
* The way JC says "Here with you" after Chris sings it.
* The way Justin sings "Yeah, yeah, yeah" after Joey sings the lyrics "Children sing Christmas carols at our door" and "Though we don't have much, you've got me and I've got you."
* The convincing way JC sings "I don't want the love of any other girl, I want only one thing in this whole wide world..."

The First Noel
* Again, JC and Justin display their wide vocal range.
* Just the way the guys' harmonies follow the music by ascending and descending throughout the song.
* The all-around vocal and musical arrangement for this piece.

In Love On Christmas
* The R&B vibe this song has.
* The way they sing "Jingle Bells" at the beginning.
* The exchange of vocals during the line "When you're kissing me [JC]...under the [group]...under the [Lance and JC]...under the mistletoe [group]."
* Justin and JC's breakdown at the end when they're singing "What a beautiful time it is, a time to open gifts..."
* When JC says "My grandmama, with my granddaddy, and my mama with my daddy...I'm with you on Christmas" as the song fades out.

It's Christmas
* The snow-crunching, wind-blowing, and sleighbells at the beginning.
* Joey and Chris sing again! Yay!
* Lance's little speech at the end: "And I wish you such a nice Christmas...and Merry Christmas to all...Merry Christmas to the world."

O Holy Night (A Cappella)
* Five guys...seven-part harmony...speaks for itself.

Love's In Our Hearts On Christmas Day
* The string orchestrations throughout the song are light and airy, very simple - blends with the guys' voices.
* When Justin sings "A snowflake melts in your eye, it turns to a tear."
* Then JC continues "But your cheek it stays dry with your warm smile so near."
* And then they harmonize "I have no fear...we're gonna make it."

The Only Gift
* ALL the guys get to sing a solo! Whoo-hoo!!
* The way the group says "bye bye bye" as Joey sings "I was saying good-bye [bye bye bye] to my family and friends."
* Lance...OMG!! "And they all wished me well, and I knew that I knew, the only gift I wanted was youuuuuu." He may not get to sing solo that often, but when he does, DAYUM!!
* When they sing "Deck the halls with boughs of holly..." and "Oooh oooh, oooh oooh, the only gift I wanted was you."

Kiss Me At Midnight
* The chimes during the intro.
* The countdown at the beginning.
* The line "We'll be making promises in the dark, our resolutions." Wink-wink, nudge-nudge.
* Just the way JC sings "Baby it's New Year's Eve, a time we can believe..."

BONUS!! As y'all know, NSYNC blessed us with two new holiday tunes this year. Because it's Christmas and because I love you all so much, I'm including my favorite things about these songs too. =)

You Don't Have To Be Alone (from The Grinch soundtrack)
* JC wrote it...his song-writing is maturing and getting so much better!
* The first two lines of the song: "I don't know when we fell apart...the love that we had was like a work of art."
* The breakdown: "You don't...have to be alone. You don't have to be...all alone at all."

I Don't Want To Spend One More Christmas Without You (from the Platinum Christmas album)
* The lyric "It's hard to believe we're staring at the end, when all we think about is starting up again."
* Snapping to the beat during the chorus.
* The exchange of vocals at the end: "I don't wanna spend one more Christmas [Justin]...I don't wanna spend one more Christmas [JC]...I don't wanna spend one more Christmas without you [harmony]."

PS: Gosh, I must REALLY love you guys, cuz I'm even adding in some pics! LOL...I miss the way they looked back then.
