They're baaaaaack! Pop music has made a huge comeback since the 70's and a large part of the contribution has been made by who we all lovingly call, "boybands". There are no doubt, mixed feelings about the boy-band, bubble gum phenomenon. But who really gives? No matter what h8ers say, pop music is loved and the sales are there to prove it. How can you not? Up-beat music, gorgeous faces, squeaky clean images. Critics, schmitics-- here's what me and Missi think about em'.

1.5 stars. 5ive is a dissapointing, sorry excuse for a boy band. I've seen a few appearances and heard a few songs and none seem to get me interested. I gave them 1.5 stars because "Slam Dunk the Funk", although terrible has been stuck in my head for weeks. Their dance moves are so-so. I mean, at least they try. I DO dig them Brit accents though. And that J guy, a sight for sore eyes my friends. But as far as the tunes and performance goes, I don't like.

98 Degrees

4 stars. Heat ME up, Jeff. Uh huh. These red-hot-hotties have voices like angels and bodies like gods! Their songs are incredible and they can all sing. Imagine that. I also approve of the clothes. Very sheik, very sophisticated. Next to you-know-who, 98 Degrees is the best "boyband" around.

Backstreet Boys

3 stars. Ehhh... I have mixed feelings about BSB. I loathed their first CD, and thought it was terrible! All the songs sounded exactly the same and had absolutely no harmonies. The only one I sort of liked was "Everybody" cuz it's a great dance song. So I wasn't a fan of them to say the least. Then Millenium comes out and BSB is back with a BOOM! I mean, I don't think I've ever seen as much hype about an album as this one. My friends all purchased it and gave rave reviews. So I got it. And I LOVED IT. A majority of the songs are incredibly written and sang. The best one is track #9, "Back to your Heart". It's written by Kevin, oh it's beautiful. I don't know if I can call myself a Backstreet fan quite yet, but I am definetly giving them buku respect for the new CD.

Favorite member: B-Rok in da house! Now, I may not be a BSB fan, but I am SO a Brian girl.

Some people may claim they are so-called "boyband haters". But I don't care what you say. One time or another, you've caught yourself humming to "When the lights go out", or watching the "IDMC" vid. It's just inevitable. For myself, I like "boybands". They like to have fun, entertain, and look dang good doin it.
