Hey Everyone,
I just wanted to let everyone know the United We Stand concert was wonderful! I have never had so much fun in my life! My seats were awesome! We got there at like 10:30am and did not leave the parking lot until 1:00am! It was a long day, but well worth it! Everyone put on a great show! My favorite was NSYNC of course, but Aerosmith and P. Diddy also had the place rocking! I was disappointed the Michael Jackson only did one song and then the song he wrote of course!! Everyone just wished Mariah Carey did not even show up, it took them like 25 minutes to set-up her stage for her to use the props for one stupid song! I have to be honest I am not a BSB fan, but they really moved me, they put on a great show! Howie looked really good and of course Nick was hotter than ever, but enough about them! Did anyone go to the show? If so tell me what you thought about it, also if you want to ask me anything about concert I will be more than happy to tell you all about it! Take care everyone! I am so tired! I did not get home until 2:30am and had to be at work at 7:30am, I got a whole 3 hours sleep!

Hey, I went to the concert also... the reason Micheal only sang one song is because the concert was suppose to be 8 hours long. It ended at like 12:15 and the mayor said that the concert had to be done by 12:15 cuz he wanted everyone out of there at that time. Anyway, I liked the concert. Billy Gilman was my fave just cuz he sang with out any music half way through it. I liked NSYNC and OTown too though.

Alright! It covers everything I remember and all the acts.
On October 21st I attended the United We Stand: What More Can I Give? Concert at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. The concert benefited victims of the September 11th tragedies. It had a star studded line up that included Aerosmith, Nsync, Usher and Micheal Jackson.
The gates opened around 1 or so but we arrived earlier around 11:30-12. Almost everyone had on red, white and blue. It was great to see everyone so proud to be an American. Before we went into the stadium I picked up a poster that listed all the performers who would be there that day. Our seats were pretty good. We had only found out about the concert about a week or so before and found out about tickets the day before they went on sale. We were really lucky to even get any. We found our seats and waited for it to begin. The master of ceremonies was...Uncle Jesse! Or John Stamos for those who didn’t watch Full House. I loved this guy when I was younger. Anyway, he tells us that today’s concert was being taped for a future broadcast on ABC. That made the whole crowd even louder.
The first group to perform was the Backstreet boys. They opened with the National Anthem. They sang some of their old hits and also performed “Drowning.” They dedicated a song to their crewmember that had died onboard one of the planes that hit the Towers. They were dressed down unlike the NYC show that was more formal. I can’t really remember the order after that since I’m writing this a couple months later. I remember O-town did one song. I think they sang “All or Nothing” and that was it. They sounded ok I guess. I’m not really an O-town fan. Pink also performed. She did a couple songs off her new album. She did “My Vietnam” which was really great. She also played the guitar, which was really cool. George Brown performed. This guy had so much energy for being over 50! I was amazed. He did his hits. Al Green also performed. I really didn’t know any of his songs. Janet Jackson performed via video from one of her concerts.
Aerosmith performed for about 30 minutes maybe more. They did “Walk this Way,” “Just Push Play,” “Living on the Edge,” and “I don’t want to miss a thing.” I was really hoping Nsync would come out during “Walk this way” like they did during the Super Bowl, but oh well. They are such great performers. The older people around us were surprised we need all the words to the songs. I am now a Rod Stewert fan. He was so good! He sang about 3 songs I think. He performed “Sailing” I remember. I was totally rockin out to Rod Stewert. My mom finds this hilarious. The Goo Goo Dolls did 3 or 4 if I remember right. Johnny looked so damn hot. He said “shit” and everyone was like, whoa. It was pretty funny.
Puff Daddy performed before Nsync. That much I remember. I swear he was on stage forever but that was alright. He is a great entertainer. He had the whole crowd going. Instead of a moment of Silence we did the wave a couple times. Faith Evans came out and helped him sing “Missing you.” He had a whole choir to sing along. At the end he ran around the stage waving a flag. It was great. Everyone loved it. Destinys Child was there too. They had on really cute flag outfits. They sang “Emotions” but I can’t remember what else. I do remember they sang a prayer. Usher performed one song, “You remind me.” My sister was upset over that. She wanted more Usher.
This is all about Nsyncs performance. They opened with “Pop.” JC had on a shirt that said “JC (heart) DC.” It was too cute! I want one. They all had on some type of American thing. Justin had on a NYFD hat I think. It was weird seeing them perform without all the lasers and what not but it was a great performance. Then they asked for a moment of silence and these assholes were yelling “Nsync sucks!” or “Nsync are fags!” I don’t care if you don’t like a group but have some respect for once. Is it really that hard? They also sang “This I Promise You,” “Tearing up my Heart/I want you back” and “Bye Bye Bye.” Joey had his trusty video camera and taped us. They didn’t hold back on any energy. They made it on stage around 8:30…they were suppose to be on at 4.
The grand finale was Micheal Jackson. I was just amazed to be seeing him in concert. It isn’t an everyday thing. He sand one song, “Man In the Mirror.” He favored our side, which let me get some good pictures. He ran around and everything! After he sang that everyone came back out. People were on stage that didn’t even perform like Whoopi Goldberg, Ja Rule, Jessica Simpson and many, many others. The stage was filled with people. They sang a song called “What more can I give?” that Micheal wrote for the concert. It ended with confetti being launched.
The only bad thing was it was a very long day. The concert was supposed to be from 1-8 but ran way over. We didn’t get out of there until 1am. I heard that they ran out of food but I really didn’t eat anything so I don’t know if they did or not. Another thing was the long breaks between everyone. We had to wait 45 minutes for Mariah Carey to set up her stage. No one else had a stage set up. That really annoyed me. One good thing was during breaks we spotted the Nsync band by our seats. We got our picture takin with Greg. He plays guitar. He was so nice to everyone. All these teenies were around him asking stupid questions. We also got an up close picture of Usher. My sister ran down to the field and handed the camera to a guy. Usher was down in the dugout area waiting I guess. So the guy took a picture for us. I think Jessica Simpson’s head is in the way though.
All in all it was a really great concert. What they showed on TV was not even close to what happened there. They didn’t show 9 acts. Some people had contracts with other stations so they couldn’t be shown. It just didn’t do the concert any justice. Here is a list of those who performed:
Backstreet Boys
O-Town
Nsync
Usher
Pink
Rod Stewert
Krystal
Bette Midler
Al Green
George Brown
P. Diddy
Mariah Carey
Billy Gilman
Micheal Jackson
Destinys Child
Janet Jackson (via video)
Aerosmith
Goo Goo Dolls
Train
Ok, well that’s my review. I only talked about the artists I remember or had a lot of time. I hope you enjoyed it!
