Chapter Twelve

Lance dropped his bags onto the hotel floor. "Joey, since it was your idea, will you take me to Emily's parent's house?" Joey nodded. Justin agreed with him. "Yeah, and you should take me, because Amanda's gonna be there."

"Yeah, and I'll go, too," J.C. said.

Joey shrugged. "I don't care. Wanna come, Chris?"

Chris shook his head no. "I'll uh, just stay here, okay?"

"Fine." Joey, J.C., Lance and Justin left, leaving Chris in the hotel room by himself.

A minutes later, there was a knock on the door. He walked over, and outside was the guys. "Did you guys forget something?"

Joey walked in. "Yeah, the card-key thing, and the keys to that car we got." Joey grabbed them, and left.

A couple of minutes late, there was another knock on the door. Chris opened it, asking, "I thought you got the keys, Joey . . . oh, hey, Emily, what's up?"

Emily walked in. "Hey, Chris, not much. Is Lance here?" She looked around.

"How'd you get here?" Chris asked.

"CJ drove me. Ooh, can I have some food?" Emily asked, pointing to the mini- fridge. "She also has my child, which means free time! Thank god!"

"So, where is she?"

"Um, I don't really know. She doesn't always tell me her plans, you know," Emily told him. "So, what's going on with you . . . wait a minute, where's Lance again? I don't remember you saying."

"He went to go find you," Chris answered. "He said, quote, ‘Joey, since it was your idea, will you take me to Emily's parent's house?', un-quote."

Emily laughed. "What was Joey's idea?"

"To go, and um, kiss and make up, or something."

"I think that I've had enough kissing to last one lifetime," Emily said. "Of course, ever since Jamie was actually born, that didn't mean, that I never had sex again. And . . . why am I telling you this? I don't even know you!"

Chris laughed. "We were talking about you on the bus," he told her.

She shrugged. "How'd I guess? Anyway, what was it about?"

"Well, it was pretty much, Lance telling us what you guys were like, and J.C. and Lance were arguing about how irresponsible you were." Emily raised her eyebrows. "Lance said that it was all his fault, and J.C. is saying that most of it's yours. I don't know. Personally, I don't care."

"J.C. thinks that it's my fault?" Emily asked. "Ooooh, he's gonna die. Wait a minute! The night that I got pregnant, we were flipping through channels, and I remember seeing a big nosed, brown-haired kid on MMC. And that, was J.C.! Ooh baby! J.C. was on my mind when we were having sex! Don't ask how I remember that, but maybe it was because I was making fun of him . . . and Justin. What nerds, man," Emily recollected. Emily started laughing. "If there had been something on the Disney channel, and if Lance hadn't wanted to watch - uhg! - football, then we wouldn't have had sex. It's J.C.'s fault! He's to blame!" She laughed.

Chris laughed at her. "You're such a dork."

Emily hit his shoulder. "You're not funny!"

Chris hit her back, and Emily grabbed his arm. She leaned forward, and kissed him. Behind them, the door opened, and Lance came in. Emily quickly pulled away, and got up. She ran a hand through her hair. "So . . . um . . . hey, how's it goin'?" Emily smiled.
