Like A Bird
By Macky
You’re beautiful, that’s for sure
You’ll never ever fade
You’re lovely but it’s not for sure
That I won’t ever change
And though my love is rare
Though my love is true
Carrie collapsed in the nearest seat she could find. The pile of books in
her arms seemed to double every day, but she expected it to. After all,
isn't that what college was all about? She sighed and ran her hand through
her hair and thought of what she should start first: Enlgish or Math. She
cringed. She hated both.
She looked over her selections once more. 'I might as well get them over with..' She thought, reaching for the math book. Her hand was knocked off course by a sudden - and startling - ringing noise. She rolled her eyes and reached for her cordless phone.
"Yep how can I help ya?" She asked, absent-mindely flipping through one of her many books.
"Since when did your apartment become a company?" Asked a familiar voice.
Carrie smirked. "Ever since you've been on tour. I gotta make some money somewhere..and when the guys call.."
"Ok, I'll pretend I didn't hear that."
"How ya doin Justin?" She asked, intterupting the little game they were playing.
"Good, good... thought I'd call. Ya know, catch up on things," He said with a sigh. Obviously, he was bored and had nothing else to do.
"So you called me because you were bored again right?"
Justin smiled. "Naw, I just thought since I wasn't busy.."
"Ok you can quit the act. Either you're in a restless mood or you need advice."
"Well it's kinda both. I'm restless over the situation" Justin confessed, looking around to make sure no one was eavesdropping.
"Ok, so tell me about it" Carrie offered, glad to have an exscuse from her studies.
Justin sighed. "Well, there's this girl and-"
"Name?"
Justin's heart beat rose up as he tried to think of a name. "Caroline" He finished with a heavy sigh of defeat.
Carrie sighed. "Justin, we've been through this a million times..."
"Why won't you give in then?" Justin challenged, half serious and half teasing.
"One, because I'm in college. Two, you're never here. And three, I'm anti-commitment. And the fact that you're an insanely admired pop star adds icing to the cake." Carrie answered.
"Well, be home-schooled and come on tour with me" Justin persisted. Carrie sighed.
"And give up college life? Something I've worked for since forever? That's kinda selfish. How'd you like it if I said, 'Hey, Justin, why don't you give up singing to come live with me in California?'"
Justin grunted in frustration."But Carrie,we have something, you just seemed to have forgotten."
"Justin, you know I'd just leave anyway. I don't stay put in relationships. You don't want to go through it."
"What if I do?" Justin continued. Carrie shook her head, wishing he'd drop the subject. She couldn't go through another relationship... not with Justin.
I’m like a bird, I’ll only fly away
I don’t know where my soul is, I don’t know where my home is
(and baby all I need for you to know is)
I’m like a bird, I’ll only fly away
I don’t know where my soul is , I don’t know where my home is
All I need for you to know is
"Justin why are you so persistant?" She questioned.
"Why are you so difficult?" He retorted.
"You just won't give up."
"You won't give in" He argued back. "But you will, they always do" He smirked.
"What if I want a normal boyfriend?" She distented.
"Haven't you seen 'As Good As It Gets'? There is none."
Carrie sighed in frustration.
Your faith in me brings me to tears
Even after all these years
And it pains me so much to tell
That you don’t know me that well
And though my love is rare
Though my love is true
It’s not that I wanna say goodbye
It’s just that every time you try to tell me that you love me
Each and every single day I know
I’m going to have to eventually give you away
And though my love is rare
And though my love is true
Hey I’m just scared
That we may fall through
Carrie couldn't help but feel feelings for Justin. Of course she knew a
relationship was impossible, but she couldn't help but wonder..
She sighed and looked down at her books. Was she seriously considering packing the books up and moving on a tour bus? Leaving her succesful career to become 'one of Justin's girls'?
"Justin? What happens if I do go?"
Justin perked up.
"Would you admit me to media?" Carrie asked.
"Only if you wanted to be," Justin said, praying to God she would accept his offer.
"Well,I don't. Make room on the bus because Ms.Messy is coming."
Justin smiled and quickly put the phone down.
Justin ran around the bus and started hyperventilating. Carrie started laughing as she heard the faint sounds of his voice.
"Ok" Justin said, returning to the phone out-of-breath.
Carrie smiled. "So, do I pack or..."
"Yeah, we'll book you a flight right now. Lindsey! Lindsey, get a flight from California to Maryland now please!" He said, his voice directed to a friend.
An awkward silence followed after the information on the flight was recieved.
"You will stay commited right?" Justin asked in a whisper.
Carrie smirked. "We'll see if I become a bird or not."
He sighed. "Carrie, you gotta try. For me?"
"Yeah, I will." She whispered, smiling and hanging up the phone. She smiled smugly down at her books and rushed off to her room to start packing.
Song by Nelly Furtado. She wrote it, she sang it, and I didn't. It's
copy-righted to her and her only.
