Chapter 1
"God, this vending machine is getting way too familiar," Addison sighed, choking back tears, as she pressed the peanut M&Ms button. She bent over, picked up her candy, and walked back to the hospital room.
"What'd ya get Addie?" Ron, her father asked.
"Peanut M&M's," she replied, "Nothing new. Has Amber woke up yet?"
"No, she's still sleeping, after the chemo treatment, Doctor Heller said that she'll be waking up soon, most likely," Ron replied. Addison nodded, and stared at her sister, tears in her eyes, like always.
"When did this happen daddy?" Addison sighed, "Why did it happen, to us?"
"I don't know Addie, I just can't answer that," Ron frowned.
"First mom dies, then this cancer thing happens to Amber, what did we do to deserve this?" she said. Addison saw the tears in her father's eyes, and felt guilty for mentioning her mother's death, he was still very emotional about it. "Sorry daddy," Addison said, as tears welled up in her eyes. The door of the hospital room opened slowly, and a young, cute looking doctor stepped through the door. Addison looked at him and smiled.
The doctor smiled. "I'm Doctor Wells, Doctor Heller asked me to come in and tell you that Mr. Orion has a visitor, come with me, and I'll show you to her." Ron followed the doctor out.
"Well, cute doctors are always an advantage, huh Amb," Addison looked at her sleeping sister, and smiled through her tears. Amber opened her eyes, "Yeah," she replied groggily, "Was that Doctor Wells?"
Addison laughed, and nodded, "Sure was. You feelin ok hon?" Addison asked.
"Yeah, a little sore, but I'll be fine," Amber replied.
Addison kissed her sister's forehead. "Do you need anything?" she asked.
"Music, please," Amber answered, "Put on a CD or the radio or something." Addison hooked up her portable CD player to miniature speakers, and set it next to Amber's bed. "What CD?" she asked, already assuming the answer.
"Hmm, well since it was Lance's birthday last week, we'll chose a Lance song. How about 'For the Girl Who Has Everything' single he's the background the whole time on 'In The Jungle'."
"You are pathetic," Addison laughed, "Which one is that?"
"Shut up, and it's the brownish one," Amber smiled. Even though all her beautiful long blonde hair was gone, Amber's bright blue eyes and smile could still light up a room. Addison pulled out the CD, and put it in the player. "What number?" she asked. "Four," Amber replied.
Addison sat and listened to the song. "This is a great song, I'll give 'em props for this one," she grinned, "I loved the old version better though." Amber rolled her eyes, and laughed.
"So it was dork-boy‘s birthday, huh?" Addison asked.
"Yes it was," Amber replied matter of factly.
"Wow, that‘s great, another year of being a dork," Addison grinned. "Shut up Addie," Amber laughed, "he's not a dork. The dork is Chris, he's a psycho."
"So, is this all you think about? I mean, you've gained 11 years of knowledge to forget about it, and memorize *NSYNC facts," Addison laughed.
"Yeah, pretty much," Amber replied.
"Chris isn't a dork though," Addison said, "He's weird, I love that in a guy, except he's just like 10 years older than me, but who doesn't love an older man." Amber laughed, just as Ron walked into the door with Doctor Wells.
"Hi Doctor Wells," Amber smiled. "Hello Amber," Doctor Wells smiled back, "Hello Addison."
Addison looked into his blue eyes with passion, he was by far one of the best looking people she had ever come upon.
"Who was your visitor, daddy?" Addison asked.
"The lady from Make-A-Wish Foundation," Ron replied, "You remember when we applied Amber, well, they want to grant her the wish she wants."
Amber's eyes shot open. "I can ask for anything?" she gasped. Ron nodded.
"*NSYNC!" she exclaimed, "I want to meet *NSYNC, I want to meet *NSYNC!" Addison laughed at Amber's first thought. "Surprise, surprise," she laughed.
"Shut up Addie, I want to meet *NSYNC, that's all I want to do, that's it, that's all I want," Amber said sternly.
"Well, there ya go," Doctor Wells laughed, "We'll tell Mrs. Martinez, the Make-A-Wish lady right away." Addison stared at him and smiled. I wonder how old he is.
"Hey Em," Addison smiled, pulling the phone off the table onto her lap. "Hey Addie, hangin in there?" Emily asked caringly.
"Yeah, we're all right over here, Amber just finished up with a chemo treatment, and the Make a Wish people are gonna give her a wish."
"Really?" Emily replied. "That's awesome." Emily had been Addison's friend since Emily was a freshman, and Addison was in sixth grade. Their sisters met in preschool, and were best friends ever since. Since their sisters spent so much time together, Addison and Emily always saw each other. They were almost 4 years apart, but they stayed good friends, no matter the age. Emily's family helped out Addison’s a lot when her mother died two and a half years ago, and after that, Emily and Addison became best friends.
"You'll never guess what she wished for," Addison laughed.
"Something *NSYNC, obviously," Emily laughed.
"Well, she wished for them," Addison answered, "She wished to meet them."
"That's Amber for you," Emily smiled, "I know Maura would have done the same thing." Addison laughed. Their sister's had been crazy for *NSYNC since the day they heard about them. Emily and Addison were sick of it by the first week.
"How's your dad holding up?" Emily asked, concerned.
"Oh, he's dad, trying so hard to stay strong, but you can tell it's so hard for him, he was not meant to be put through this," Addison sighed.
"Well, guys," Johnny sighed, "Sorry about this, but, I have changed your day off tomorrow."
"WHAT?" all five guys said in unison.
"You can't do that Johnny, man, we had plans," Joey moaned.
"No we didn't," Lance laughed, "We planned on doing nothing."
"Shut up Lance!" Joey laughed.
"What did you schedule for us this time?" Justin asked.
"Well, there is a young girl with a unusual type of cancer that asked to meet you as a part of Make-A-Wish," Johnny explained. "I said you guys were free tomorrow, and I told them that you would be there tomorrow, as a surprise to the girl."
JC nodded, "I guess that is better than doing nothing, granted I wanted to sit around in my underwear, but I love doing this type of stuff."
"Whoa, Jayce! Then there's the things you just don't wanna know," Chris laughed. Everyone joined in his laughter, excited about the following day, knowing it would be a special one.
