Chapter 13
Three Days Later…
The last few days went by fast for Amanda, Christin and the rest of the guys. Christin received at least one gift a day from her secret admirer. She always got online and sent him a thank you in the e-mail since that was her only way of communicating with him. On Monday, she sent him an e-mail telling him to stop sending gifts. That she was leaving away on business. Christin did receive all the flowers right before she was leaving the office for a month. Her car was packed full with stuff from him on the way home.
Now at 6:30 in the morning, Christin was sitting with Amanda at the airport. She had packed Sunday after she got back from church. Her flight left at 7:00 in the morning. She chose an early flight so she could go to her apartment in Orlando when she arrived, then go to the office. Christin had exactly one week to get the office ready for the Backstreet Boys, whoever they were. She had gotten in contact with their manager, who was going to leave after they finished their tour. Her name was Denise. She was real friendly. From what Christin had gathered from Denise, the band was a HUGE success. Christin thought maybe she should go to the store and get their CD or get information off the Internet about them. Unfortunately she didn’t have time.
“What you thinking about?” Amanda asked as she and Christin sat at the gate waiting for Christin’s plane.
“Oh nothing. Just thinking bout how much different it’s going to be in Orlando. I’m going to be there all alone without my friends, family, and co-workers. Nobody. I’ll know nobody and as far as everyone else is concerned I am nobody.” The truth had just hit Christin like a ton of bricks. She didn’t know how to survive. If she could even survived at all.
“Girl. You all alone. Ha. I don’t think so. As far as every guy is concerned, they are going to be lining up wanting to know the new girl. And every girl there is going to want to be you. PLUS you are outgoing. You’re going to fit right in. Guess what! I heard they have killer clubs in Orlando. I know what you’re going to be doing with them guys.” Amanda finished causing Christin to laugh.
“Yeah you do know. I be doing some freak-nasty dancing except in the bed.” Christin laughed sarcastically.
They sat there for a few minutes in silence. Then Christin spoke…“Whatever happened to those backstage passes I gave you? You know the ones to that concert tonight.”
“Oh. I sold both of them. Yesterday at school. One to a freshmen and the other to the senior. The freshmen said she loved them and gave me $150 for the pass and the senior has a 16 year old niece who is so in love with them. Her birthday is next week so she thought it would a good present. She gave me another $150. So guess where I am going today?”
“Um…let’s see. $300. Look at what you are wearing. I would say um…the mall!”
“What’s wrong with what I’m wearing? Look at you.”
Amanda was wearing a pair of khakis overalls and a lime green shirt. She had on socks and tennis shoes.
Christin on the other had had on some semi-hoochie shorts and a baggy shirt with a sports bra underneath. She was wearing a pair of Doc. Martin sandals.
“Nothing is wrong with what you’re wearing. It was a joke. Golly. What’s your problem today? And remember I’m wearing this because when I land in Orlando it’s going to be 87 degrees. I’m sorry but sweating to death isn’t me.” Christin explained.
“Flight 182 to Orlando has now arrived at 54B. First class travelers will now board.” Came over the airport speakers.
“That’s me Amanda. Is it to late to chicken out? Turn around and go home.” Christin said starting to get antys.
“No you're getting on that flight. Got your lab-top, purse, cell, pager, and directions to your apartment and to the office?” Amanda asked doing a last minute check.
“Yes, madam. I got everything.”
Both girls got up and gave each other a hug.
“I’m going to miss you Amanda.” Christin said tearing up.
“I’ll miss you too. Now get going. Wouldn’t want you to board with the coach travelers.” Amanda joke causing Christin to laugh.
Christin gathered her stuff, said goodbye to Amanda again and got on the plane. She immediately got on the Internet when she took her seat on the plane.
“Welcome, You’ve Got Mail.”
She had some junk-mail and a letter from her secret admirer. It read…
“Dear Christin,
Sorry to hear I can’t send you anything for a while. Where you going? I’ll miss not sending things to you. I was listening to the radio and I heard the perfect song for me. You know that song, “I Knew I Love You Before I Met You.” By Savage Garden? Well now every time you hear it think of me. I want that to be our song. It fits me and you so perfectly. I mean me singing to you at least. I hope it fits you too once you find out who I am. I don’t know if we should meet though. I might just cause you heartache and heartbreak. I usually do that to girls. I really don’t want to hurt you. Maybe it’s best if we just left it like this. Nobody but me gets hurt. It kills me to know where you are and be so close yet not know what you're doing and not know what you're doing and not be able to see you. Now I don’t even know where you are. I haven’t talked to you that much, but I feel a connection. I feel I’ve known you all my life. It’s scary yet also so exciting in a way I don’t even know how explain it. I hope you feel the same. God I could go on forever, but I’m going to stop. I wish you very best where ever you are. Please write to tell me where you are. It would make me feel better. Write to you later.
Boner_69
Your Secret Admirer
Christin almost started crying when read that. Never had any guy she had ever dated said something so sweet and full of love. She never thought any guy would. Over the last days she had gotten to feel close to him even though she only contacted him though letters, each time she wrote him in a way she felt closer to him. She quickly clicked the reply button and began to type.
“Dear Boner_69,
I wish I at least knew your name so I didn’t have to start like that. N-E ways. I think I know how you feel. You feel like you know me yet you have no idea who I am. Well at least that’s how I feel. I feel so close to you. I’m not going to tell you where I’m going to be. People at the office would think that I’m crazy. Having flowers and chocolates delivered everyday. Then someone ask who it’s from and me saying “my secret admirer.” Yeah, it would sound like I’m still in high school. Speaking of high school, what was it like for you? I didn’t exactly have the best time. I graduated when I was sixteen. I didn’t have many friends. Only one to be exact. She is the greatest. We’ve been best friends since we were five. By the way I’m 21. I don’t think you ever told me how old you are. Maybe you are right about the whole lets not meet thing. I so want to know who you are but something deep down inside of me says I don’t. I understand about causing heartache and heartbreak. Ever since my first boyfriend, I’ve pushed men away. I don’t know way but I do. Now I am starting to get closer to you. I am not pushing way but something says I should. Maybe I’m growing close to you because I feel a connection too. Oh to let you know I’m okay, I’ll send you an e-mail once a day. I have to go. My plane is about to take off.
Closer Then Ever,
Christin Casey
Christin sent that and then decided to research who she could be possibly representing, The Backstreet Boys. She went to search and typed Backstreet Boys. When she started to browse though the listing of the sites, she started to doze off. She decided to shut her computer down and get some much needed sleep. After she put her lab-top up, she quietly fell asleep.
