Chapter 14

A.J. couldn’t sit still during this interview. Usually he could sit and answer the same questions that he had been asked a million times. First, he sat at the sofa, then in a chair, then on the table, and finally on the floor.

“Comfy now?” the reported, Leigh, asked.

“Yeah fine.” A.J. answered.

Kevin was sitting on the sofa with Howie while Brian and Nick sat in the chairs.

“Yeah man. What’s up with you? You're usually not this up at this time.” Howie asked while looking at his watch. “It’s only 7:30. Only Brian and Nick are this up this time. And most of the time they aren't usually this up.”

It was the truth. A.J. did like his sleep. He only woke up early to get breakfast from McDonald’s. He knew the reason his was this wired though was to see if Christin answered his letter. He needed to know how she felt. Even though she had only written him to thank him, each letter she wrote got more and more personal. Unfortunately, Kevin dragged him out of his room before he could check his mail.

Finally at nine, the interview was over. They all got in the limo. When they were seated, everyone looked at A.J.

“What?!” A.J. asked when he noticed everyone looking at him.

“Nothing bro. We just wondering what up with you? You're usually never this jumpy and quiet at the same time. You almost took that poor reporter’s head off.” Nick said.

“Nothing man. Can someone please hand me my lab-top?” A.J. pointed to his lab-top that he left in the limo when they came. He took it with him he just didn’t have time to check his mail on the way to the interview.

“Yeah sure.” Brian picked it up because he was closest to it and handed it to A.J.

“What’s so important about that computer? You usually don’t even use it, but today that’s all you can think about. Why?” Kevin started to catch on.

“Nothing man.”

“Welcome, You’ve got mail.” The computer said as it got on the Internet.

“Oh. Who’d you get mail from?” Nick tried to lean over A.J.’s shoulder.

“No one. Just junk mail.” It wasn’t a lie. He did have some junk mail, but he also had a message from Christin but he wasn’t going to tell Nick that.

“Oh ok.” Nick started to mess with Brian. Pretty soon all the guys were joking around except A.J. A.J. had clicked on Christin’s message and had began reading it. When he finished they were at the hotel. They were supposed to finish packing then meet a few fans. But when they stepped out the limo they were swarmed with hundreds of screaming fans. It took them ten minutes just to get in the hotel.

“Where’s security when you need them?” Brain joked when they reached the door.

A.J. didn’t have time to talk with the fans like he usually did. He ran though the crowd just like the rest off the guys without stopping though. He got in his room and threw all in his stuff into the suitcase. A.J. wanted to go back downstairs and sign all the autographs he could. He was so happy to know that Christin returned his feelings and didn’t even know him. Well as in know who he was. After he finished, he had a bellboy come up and get his luggage. He then ran downstairs and into the crowd. He immediately started signing autographs, taking pictures with strange girls, and talking with them. By the time the other guys came out, A.J. signed over 100 autographs and probably had taken close to 325 pictures but was still going strong. The guys knew A.J. loved the fans but not this much. He was joking around and signing autographs and taking pictures. The other guys weren’t even out there five minutes before they were exhausted. Even when they all climbed in the limo A.J. had more energy then the rest of the guys combined.

“Why the sudden mood change? This morning you were all down and jumpy but now you are super-hyper with lots of energy. I mean look at the way you were with the fans. Not even you are that energetic.” Howie said.

“You know what I think. I think he got a letter from LILIA in his e-mail. That’s way he was so eager to get to his computer.” Brain said trying to figure it out.

At the mention of Lilia’s name A.J.’s face fell. Lilia was A.J.’s girlfriend of two months. They talked about once a week. Lilia lived in New York City. She had came to their concert and just clicked with A.J. Lately though it seem like every time they talked they either fought or had other things on their minds. He hadn’t even thought about Lilia the last few days. All he thought about was Christin. Now he felt he had to break up with Lilia and he had to do it fast. A.J. felt incredibly guilty now. He had a girlfriend and here he was sending flowers, and lots of them, to Christin, another woman. Maybe if he broke up with her right away, he wouldn’t feel so badly. He would call her tonight after the show. A.J. just hoped he could do it over the phone.
