Chapter 20
They went into the house to find Christin and Kevin sitting next to each other in deep on the couch in a deep conversation. Unfortunately A.J. decided to interrupt them anyways.
“Hey Christin.” A.J. called.
“What A.J.?” Christin said annoyed that he was interrupting her and Kevin’s discussion.
“I heard you are a manager.” A.J. ignored the annoyance in her voice.
“Was a manager.” Christin corrected him.
“You’re a manager?” Kevin asked.
“No I was a manager. I’m no longer a manager.”
“But why? You could be our manager.” A.J. said getting ahead of himself.
“Because I got a better job. I have an office with a view. I know where I am everyday. I don’t wake up in strange motels in foreign cities every other morning. I loved being a manager but I also love my job as a vice president. There is a lot of work into being a manager.”
“Well you were Blink-182’s manager for a year and a half. It-” A.J. was cut off.
“I was also Eminem’s manager for a year. But I don’t know if I could do it again.”
“Your were Eminem And Blink-182’s manager.” Kevin asked yet again stunned.
“Yeah, but you don’t get it. I was Blink’s manager because they chose me. I was Eminem’s manager because The Firm chose me. I now get to hand out those assignments.”
“Would you do it for Blink if they asked?” A.J. asked.
“If they were so desperate that they needed a manager, they could trust right away, I probably would until they found someone else.”
“Well as of tomorrow, we need a manager. My mom is calling it quits. We’re desperate.” A.J. put his sad eyes on.
“How do my words get turn around?” Christin laughed. “If I promise to think about it, will you stop bugging me?”
“Well for now anyways.” A.J. smiled.
Howie was messing around with the stereo when the beginning of Barbie Girl by Aura came on.
“Leave it on Howie. I haven't heard that song in forever.”
Christin started to sing, so she figured what the hell. Have some fun with it.
She got up off the sofa and started dance. When they came to the part where it goes, “Come on Barbie, Let’s go party.” She pointed to A.J. who sang the male part , while Christin danced around him and the other guys. When the song ended where she says, “I love you Ken.” She fell on top of Howie and Kevin, who were on the sofa. Everyone was laughing hard. A.J., Howie, and Kevin still managed to give her a round of applause though. Christin got up and took a bow.
The next song that played was a Backstreet Song. Howie got up to change it but Christin said she wanted to listen to it. The song was “Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely.” When it was A.J.’s part, he sang it. Kevin and Howie did the same when it was their turn. When they finished all Christin could say was whoa.
Brian and Nick heard all the singing, so they went to see what was up. They found Christin sitting as if she had seen a ghost and A.J., Kevin, and Howie looking at her.
“Well?” A.J. asked.
“It was-was-was like-like whoa. I don’t even know how to explain it. It was…You all sing great. I’m surprised I haven't heard one of your songs before. It was truly magnificent.”
“Well, would you like to come to our concert tomorrow? It will be our last one for the Millennium Tour. You’ll have front row and a backstage pass.”
“Okay. I’ll come if you sing like that on stage.” Christin said still amazed.
“Kewl. You will be amazed at what you see. Our show is off da hook.” Nick exclaimed.
“Oh hey Nick, Brian. Where ya been? You missed not singing with the rest of the guys.”
“We sing plenty with them everyday. We didn’t miss much.” Brian explained.
“Well, where was you anyways?” Christin asked.
“Kicking Rok’s butt in Playstation.” Nick yelled excited.
“Yeah, right. He didn’t kick my butt. He won by one millisecond.” Brian tried to downplay the event.
Christin glanced down at her watch and saw it was almost 4:30. “Guys I gotta get going. It’s almost 5:00 and I got stuff I have to do.” Christin started to gather papers. “Kevin, we will finish talking later. Guys, I’ve had loads of fun but I gotta book. Oh guys, how do I get the ticket and backstage pass?”
“Oh go to the ticket booth and tell them your name. They will give you your ticket. Just make sure you have ID. For the backstage pass, go backstage and tell the security guard your name. He’ll hand you a pass and let you in.” A.J. explained.
“Oh ok. Where is it?” Christin asked.
“Tell you what. I remember your address. We’ll have a limo pick you up at 5:30 sharp tomorrow. Is that cool what you?” Howie offered.
“Yeah. That’d be great. Thanks D. Bye guys.” Christin headed out the door.
