Chapter 29
“What’s wrong with her?” Brian asked.
“I wish I knew” Kevin said.
Christin quickly dialed the last number that called her.
“Hello.” Mark of Blink 182 said.
“What’s up? You never call my cell unless something is wrong, so what's up?”
Christin asked frantically.
“Why would something be wrong? I can’t just say hello to my favorite
ex-manager?”
“No. You either have bad news, or you want something.” Christin said,
calming down a bit.
“Well, I’ll tell you, I have no bad news.”
Christin let out a sigh of relief. “So what do you want?”
“Gally, can’t I even call without you jumping down my throat?”
“Yeah. I’m just kind of busy.”
“Busy getting freaky?”
“Not everything is sex-oriented.”
“With you it usually is.” Mark laughed.
“Shut up.” Christin yelled but was still smiling.
“Okay, I guess then I can’t tell you the reason I’m calling.”
“See, there is a reason.”
“Do I tell you or not?” Mark asked
“Yeah sure. I know you are going to anyway.” Christin rolled her eyes even
though Mark couldn’t see her.
“Okay. I need a date. Simple as that.”
“I’m sure you have a million girls that would go with you.”
“Yeah but only one I want to go with.”
“When?” Christin was surprised at herself for even considering it.
“June 8th.”
“Where?”
“L.A. and don’t say you won’t be back because I’ve already checked with your
secretary in San Francisco and Orlando.”
“Okay, I’ll be back.” Christin was getting curious what this date was all about.
“Keep talking.”
“Okay, I see I’ve sparked your curiosity.”
“Maybe a little.”
“Okay. I’ll tell what you ask about.”
“Okay, how do I have to dress?”
“In your very newest most fashionable bestest formal dress.”
“Ok, where are we going?”
“Perfect question.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because if you say yes, I’ll have the most gorgeous girl on my arm for the
MTV Movie Awards.”
“Oh my God, are you serious?”
“Of course, but you have to say yes.”
“Yes, yes, yes, I will. Oh my god. You have to go with me to get a dress. Oh,
you are going to wear more than your whities aren’t you?” Christin joked. she
was overwhelmed that she was going to be going to the MTV Movie
Awards.
“Maybe not all night, but I do plan on wearing a suit.”
“Well, seeing as I’m you’re date you better be planning on wearing the suit all
night!”
“Okay. Hey Tom and Travis are about to call and ask you. Before they can
even ask you tell them something about you having something to do in June,
just don’t tell them your my date.”
“Okay. Hey I gotta go. Call me later.”
“Yeah. Later.” Christin hung up her phone. She walked into the house with a
smile from ear to ear on her face.
“Hey Kevin, AJ, D, Nick, Brian.” Christin said happily.
“Are you ok?” Kevin asked.
“Yeah, fine.” Christin went into the living room and sat down. “Brian can you
change it to MTV?” The guys followed her.
“Sure.” Brian picked up the remote and changed it. They were playing a re-run of TRL from earlier that day. They were about to play the number nine video when Christin's cell started ringing. All the guys looked at her.
“Hello Travis” Christin said as she picked up her cell and answered
it.
“How’d you know that?”
“Psychic, plus modern technology has something everyone likes to call, caller
ID.”
“Oh, yeah. well, the reason...”
“Hold up, your on TV” She said to Travis, “Turn that up Kev.” Kevin turned
up the TV.
“Woah.” AJ had just walked back into the room. “What are they doing on the
TV? They’re making fun of us incase you haven’t noticed.”
“Shut up AJ.” Christin threw a pillow at him.
“AJ? From Backstreet Boys AJ?” Travis asked.
“Yeah. You know him?”
“No, not personally, but wait, Kev, is that Kevin from...”
“Yes they’re all here. Why, gotta problem with it?”
“No, I just didn’t imagine you hanging out with a POP group.”
“Me either.”
“Then what are you doing there?”
“Shhh, you can’t tell anybody, but I’m their new manager.”
“WHAT?” Travis shouted so loud that even the guys heard him.
Christin got up and walked into the kitchen. “What are you hollering about?”
“You’ll be their manager, but you won’t be ours?”
“It’s not like that, you know I tried so hard to make that work out. Even after
you told me what you did, I tried harder. It didn’t work, you know that. Now if
one of then tells me something like that, then I’d probably do the same thing.
Infact, I’m not even going to be their manager when they start touring
again.”
“Yeah, whatever, call ya later.” Travis hung up. He needed time to
think.
Christin hung up her cell. “Kev, can you come here.” Christin
shouted.
“Yeah.” Kevin got up off the sofa and walked towards the kitchen, “You
okay?”
“Yeah, fine. Just talking to another asshole.”
“O-kay.”
“I have a great idea for celebrating.”
“Really? Let me hear it.”
Christin told him.
“That’s a great idea.” Kevin said smiling.
