Chapter 38
AJ woke up to the sound of his phone ringing. He looked at the clock. 11:58 a.m. “Hello?”
“Hey man, did I wake you up?”
“What Kevin?”
“Well, I’m on my way home, and I was wondering if you’d help me.”
“Help you what?”
“Pack a few things.”
“Goin’ back to Lexington?” AJ asked in a phony southern accent.
“Not right now, I am in a few weeks.”
“Then why do you need help packing?”
“Well, I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone, but Christin was staying at my place-” Kevin paused for
AJ’s reaction.
“WHAT? HOW COME? FOR HOW LONG? WHY?”
“Well, to answer all your questions in order, Christin has been staying with me. They were
fumigating her apartment. I think she’s been staying with me for about three weeks, and I already
told you why.”
“Three weeks?”
“Yeah. The night I dropped her off from the concert she got the fumigation notice. She started to
freak out, so I offered to let her stay with me.”
“Oh.” That was all AJ could say.
“Well, are you going to help me?” Kevin pulled into the driveway at his house.
“Why? If she is going back to her place, why doesn’t she pack herself?”
“Well, she’s not leaving my place to go back to her apartment, she’s leaving my place to go back
to San Francisco.”
“That still doesn’t explain why she doesn’t pack.” AJ finally got out of bed.
“Well, I didn’t know she was leaving tomorrow, until today. I agreed that we would say our
good-bye’s today and not see each other again. I figured the only way to do that is to pack for
her.”
“Well, is it just gonna be me and you, or is Nick coming too?”
“No. Nicks too busy with Margo.”
“Margo?”
“Yeah, Nicks new leading lady.”
“Oh. Well, I’ll be over in about ten minutes then.”
“Ok. Later man.” AJ and Kevin hung up.
15 minutes later
AJ pulled up at Kevins, thinking about his life. He thought about him and Lilia, and him and
Christin. How he wouldn’t mind if Christin were the one pregnant. He figured he could take that.
He could definitely live with Christin in his life.
Kevin was outside waiting for AJ, when AJ stepped out of his car Kevin yelled “I thought you
said ten minutes. You’re five minutes late.”
“Yeah, whatever man. Be glad I’m helping you pack.”
“I’m so happy!” Kevin said sarcastically.
“Yeah, well, lets get started.”
Meanwhile
“Yeah, Amanda, my flight comes in tomorrow at three your time.” Christin said into the phone.
“Great to talk to you too, but I gotta get back to work.... yeah....bye.” Christin hung up the
phone. “I wanna talk to one of the guys. Not Kevin, Howie and Brian are outta town, so... Nick
or AJ.” she said aloud to herself. “Nick.” she pulled out her phone, and dialed Nicks number.
After a few rings, a woman answered. “Hello?”
“Yes. Hello. I’m sorry, I must have the wrong number.” Christin was about to hang up.
“You looking for Nick?” The woman asked.
“Yeah, is he there?”
“Of course. Hold on a sec.” The woman pulled the phone away from her ear. “Nick. Baby.
Phone.”
“Who is it?” Christin heard Nick ask.
“Some woman.” the woman said.
“Oh.” Nick ran over to the phone.
“Hello?” Nick said.
“Nicky, who was that?” Christin asked innocently.
“That was Margo.”
“Is that your new girlfriend?”
“Stop asking questions. I can never ask you questions. Or can I?”
“I’ll stop.”
“So, what do you want?”
“Oh, I wanted to talk, but apparently your busy.” Christin laughed.
“Talk about what?”
“Nothing important, just bored.”
“I don’t believe that. If you were just bored you would have called Kevin. Why me?”
“I can’t call Kev. Howie and Brian are out of town. And I decided to call you instead of AJ. Is
there a problem?”
“No. Why can’t you call Kevin?”
“Cause I’ve already said good-bye, so I don’t wanna talk to him again.”
“Good-bye? Good-bye for what?”
“I’m leaving tomorrow.”
“Leaving? Where ya going?” Nick asked, really confused.
“Back to San Francisco.”
“Why?”
“Cause thats where I live.”
“I thought you moved to Orlando.”
“Nope. But don’t worry, I’m still your manager. I’ll talk to you alot, and see you sometimes.”
“You mean, you’ll talk to Kevin. He’s the only one that will actually be serious.”
“Hey, you could become serious. I’m not stopping you.” Christin laughed. “Hey Nick I gotta go.”
“Why?”
“I have to go back to my place and pack some stuff.” she lied.
“Oh. What kind of stuff? Do you need any help?”
“Nope, you’ve got Margo. Bye Nick.”
“Bye Christin.” Nick hung up the phone.
“Who was it?” Margo asked when she walked back into the room, and saw that Nick was no
longer on the phone.
“That was my manager.”
“Manger? I thought AJ’s mom had retired. I didn’t know you had found another manager
already.”
“Well, we found a really great person for the job, she has enough experience and is just an all
around good person.” Nick got up and walked over to Margo.
“Oh, she’s an all around good person? What am I?” Margo wrapped her arms around Nicks neck.
“A wonderful person.” Nick kissed her neck.
“Really?” Margo played with Nicks hair.
“Oh, definitely.” Nick made a trail of kisses from her neck to her lips. Nick had a way of
kissing that always made you want more. He would barely touch your lips, and leave you hungry
for more. Always with Nick, kissing would lead to a little more. Ok, a lot more. Nicks hands were
going up and down Margos back when she broke away.
“Woah. Nick, baby, you know where this will lead, and you know that I’m not ready for that, not
until I’m married.”
Nick backed off. “Yeah. I remember, and I will never pressure you to do anything you don’t want
to.”
“Thank-you Nick.” Margo kissed him again.
