Chapter 40
“Kevin needs to hurry with my bags.” Christin said to herself as she got out of the shower and
wrapped herself in a towel.
‘Ding-Dong’
“Crap.” Christin made sure the towel was wrapped around her good and then went to answer the
door. “Kevin, you-” Christin stopped when she saw who it was. “AJ?”
“Hello to you too.” AJ smiled while he discreetly ran his eyes up and down Christin.
“What are you doing here?”
“Can I come in?”
“If you answer my question.”
“Ok. I was bringing your bags from Kevins.”
“What? How did you know I was staying at Kevins?”
“I’ll tell you all this if you let me come in.”
“Yeah, sure. But first can you get one of my bags, so I can have something to where.”
“Yeah, no problem.” AJ smiled wickedly and walked back towards his Expedition.”
Christin left the door slightly ajar and walked back to the bathroom. She grabbed a brush out of
her purse and quickly brushed out her hair.
“Where are you at?” AJ yelled from the door.
“Down the hall, second door on the left.” Christin replied.
“Okay.” AJ made his way to the bathroom. “Your bag my lady.” AJ pretended to be a bellhop.
“Thank you, now leave so I can get dressed.”
“Ok. You need any help?” AJ smiled innocently.
“No thanks. Now out.”
AJ walked out and waited outside the bathroom door.
Christin shut the door and locked it. She then opened her suitcase. “AJ McLean!” She shouted
angrily.
“What? Decided you need that help after all?” AJ remarked.
“No, what I need to do is kick your ass.”
“My ass? Why?”
Christin opened the door. “Oh, I don’t know, maybe because you brought me a suitcase with only
hoochie clothes in it.”
“I thought thats what you wanted. Ya know, to show off your tattoo.”
“Yeah, whatever. Atleast there are a few things in here I can put together to make a
not-so-hoochie outfit.” She shut the door.
“But why?” AJ whinned loudly.
“So I can walk out of the apartment. You do need help unloading my bags don’t you?”
“Nope. You left your car unlocked, so I popped the trunk and put all your bags in
there.”
“Ok, kewl.”
“Well do you wanna go get something to eat?”
“Like what?” Christin opened the door. She was wearing a pair of short frayed blue jean shorts
and a pink tank-top with “Y2K” in white letters across the front. The shirt exposed her stomache,
and her tattoo was obvious.
“I don’t know, what do you want?” AJ was trying to spend as much time with Christin as
possible.
“Well, I wasn’t planning on going out to eat, so I went to the store. I have some groceries I
should use.”
“Thats cool with me. Whatcha got?”
“I don’t know, go look in the fridge.”
“I would if I knew where it was.”
“Well then, follow me.” Christin walked past AJ, and he followed her. She walked into the
kitchen and opened the refrigerator . “This is where the fridge is.”
“Well, thank you.” AJ walked to the refrigerator and looked at was inside. “Fruit, vegetables,
juice, Diet Coke. Diet Coke? Why do you have Diet Coke?”
“Because if I drink a soda it will be diet, not regular.”
“Why? You’re not fat. You don’t need to lose any weight.”
“And I don’t need to gain any either.”
“Well, do you have any real food?”
“I think I have some Coke in the cabinet, let me check.” She opened the cabinet and spotted a few
on the top shelf. She tried to reach them, but was a little short. She then tried jumping to grab
one, but couldn’t.
“Need some help?” AJ was watching Christin, and trying hard not to laugh.
Christin stopped and looked at AJ. “Well, it would be appreciated since it is for you.”
AJ walked over and grabbed a can.
“Would you like a glass and some ice for that?” Christin asked in a mocking tone.
“If it isn’t too much trouble.” AJ ignored her tone.
Christin walked over to another cabinet and grabbed a glass. She then walked fot the freezer and
put some ice in the glass. She handed AJ the glass. “Happy now?” she asked with a fake
smile.
“Perfectly. So I still don’t see anything to eat.”
“Well, I can make a salad, and we can eat that.”
“Oh, yeah, I forgot. You don’t eat meat.”
“Yeah.” Christin put on a cheesy grin. “So you can either eat salad, or go hungry.” Christin
grabbed the vegetables out of the refigerator.
“Fine, I’ll eat salad. Need any help?”
“Naw, I got it. There is a TV in the other room, make yourself comfy.”
“What if I wanna help?”
“Well then, get a knife and start chopping.”
“Ok.” AJ found a knife and started cutting up lettuce while Christin washed the other fruits and
vegetables. They worked a few minutes in silence until AJ said something. “So, you anxious to
get back to San Francisco?”
“Well, in a way, yes. I get to go back and see my father and Amanda.”
“You’re real close to Amanda, huh?”
“Well, yeah, she’s been my best friend since I was five. When I was in high-school she was my
only real friend. I was two years ahead. True, I was captain of the Varsity basketball team, but
alot of seniors resented me for it. They thought they deserved it because they were 18 and I was
only 16. I was too young to hang around the seniors, and too smart for the people my age. But
Amanda was always my friend. No matter what grade I was in.”
“I take it she’s your roommate?”
“Yeah, how’d you know?”
“Well, when you were drunk you said that Amanda was at your house in San Francisco. I
assumed you were roommates.”
“Oh.” Christin picked up a cucumber and started peeling it.
“So, how do you like being our manager so far?”
“Well, its made my schedule at the office more hectic. Plus its brought back all the memories of
being a manager.”
“Good, or bad?”
“Some bad, but mostly good.”
“Did you tour with Blink-182, and Eminem?”
“Oh, hell yeah!” Christin laughed.
“How were those tours?”
“A non-stop party. All they did was drink and party.”
“Well, our tour, I have to say, is alot calmer.”
“Thats just it though. Even though I was there to do a job, I partied alot. I never felt left out. I
mean, true, I was one of the only women on the tour, but I was treated as one of the guys. With
Marshall though, well, lets not even start with that.”
“So, you’re saying you like wild tours?”
Christin got a bowl out and sliced the cucumber into it. “I really can’t answer that, because I’ve
never been on a calm tour. Every single tour was a non-stop party, but I gotta admit, they were
fun. Are you finished with the lettuce yet?”
“Yeah, so you partied too?”
Christin grabbed the bowl and walked over to AJ and put the lettuce into the bowl. “Well I really
didn’t have a choice. With Blink they decided since I partied with them in college, I should party
with them on the road . With Marshall, I did because that’s all I knew at that point in life.”
“So pretty much from when you were in college, untill you finished managing Eminem you
partied?”
“Yeah. Pretty much. But even throught the hangovers, I still did my job. I scheduled photoshoots,
interviews, all of that. But before I confirmed anything, I checked with the guys to make sure it
was alright. They respected me alot because of that.”
“Well, I know we will too.”
“I’m glad.” Christin smiled as she tossed some tomato slices into the bowl.
“I have an idea!” AJ nearly shouted.
