Chapter 49

Christin got back to San Francisco around noon. She had thought non-stop about AJ since leaving. Then after she heard her voicemail, she started to analyze her true feelings. Was it love or lust? Was it one night of passion, or could it be a long-term relationship? No. He was famous and gorgeous and she was simple and plain. Hold up. She wasn’t plain. She had been told me many times that she was pretty. Not drop-dead gorgeous, but pretty. Ok, so the odds of someone like AJ falling for her? Slim to none. AJ was the one lying to himself. Saying he had feelings for her. Whatever!

She grabbed her stuff and exited the plane. She beat all the traffic by not having luggage. A taxi pulled up and she climbed in, told him her address, and was off. It was Sunday so there wasn’t much traffic.

“So, where ya from?” The cab driver asked.

“Um. Here. I just got home from Orlando.” Christin replied.

“Oh. That should have been lots of fun!”

“Yeah, I was there for business.”

“Well. You had to have found someone, dressed like that. Some lucky young man.” The driver said with knowledge.

“Yeah. Something like that. Turn right here.” She pointed to a sidestreet. “That apartment building.”

The cab pulled up to the building. “That’ll be twenty-one dollars, and eighty two cents.”

Christin handed him twenty-five. “Keep the change.” She climbed out of the cab and ran into the building, and up the stairs. Opening the door she screamed “I’m HOME!” scaring Amanda shitless.

“Christin! What are you doing home so early? Oh my god, its so good to see you!” Amanda jumped up and hugged her friend.

“Manda.” Christin hugged her back. “Did I surprise you?” She smiled.

Amanda slapped Christin on the arm playfully. “You scared the crap outta me. I thought you weren’t coming back till later today.”

“Naw, I got an earlier flight to surprise you. Sorry if I scared you!”

“So tell me wassup. Did you find you a guy or something in Orlando?” Amanda nudged Christin in the side. Christin walked over and sat on the sofa, with Amanda following. “Why would I get me one of those Florida guys when I can have any Call guy I want!” Christin lied. Amanda laughed.

“Amanda, I’m sorry, but I’m real tired. I didn’t get much sleep last night. I’m not going to be very pleasant.” Christin rubbed her face.

“Why don’t you go lay down. Then, later you can unpack and explain why you have so much luggage!”

“Oh. Manda. I’m so sorry. I know that must have been hell. I owe you.” Christin got up and walked towards her room. As soon as she climbed into bed, she fall asleep.

Amanda was cooking something for dinner when the phone rang. She only let it ring once so it wouldn’t wake Christin.

“Hello?”

“Hey, is Christin there?”

“Um. She is, but she’s asleep. May I ask who’s calling?”

“This is Kevin. You must be Amanda. I really need to talk to her. When do you think she’ll be awake?”

“I’m sorry Kevin, she passed out about two hours ago. I really can’t say. I can take a message though.”

“Just tell her Kevin called. It’s about the Movie Awards.”

“Yeah, sure. I’ll tell her when she wakes up. Anything else?”

“Nope. That’ll do for now. Thanks.”

“No prob.” Amanda hung up and went back to cooking.

Back in Orlando

“Hey man, you look like crap.” As they both arrived at Kevin’s at the same time.

“Yeah, I feel like it. Do you know why Kev called us here?” AJ knocked on the door.

“Nope, but he best have a good reason.”

“Hey guys. Come on in.” They walked in. “Whats wrong AJ? You look like crap.” Kevin said, worried.

“Naw, man I’m fine. Wassup? Why we here?”

“Oh. I have already talked to Brian and Howie. Now all I need is yours and Nicks consent.”

“Consent for what?” Nick asked.

“Well, the MTV Movie Awards aren’t that important, so I figured we would skip them and start working down in the islands earlier. We’ll leave about the twenty-sixth of theis month. What do you think?” Kevin concluded.

“Fine. It’s not like I got a date.” AJ remarked.

“Somehow I find that gard to believe. Don’t you Kev?” Nick joked.

“Very.” Kevin noted. “So, how bout you Nick? What do you think?”

“Oh, its fine with me. It also means that if we finish earlier than planned, we get relax.” Nick yelled hyperly.

“Ok, its unanimous. I’ll call Christin to tell her to make arrangements for the airport and to make sure that MTV doesn’t think we’re coming.” Kevin picked up the phone. A few minutes later, he hung up the phone. “She was asleep. I’ll call back later.”

“So, are we free to go?” Nick asked. “I got places to go.”

“Yeah, Nick, I wouldn’t want to keep you!”

Nick got up and made for the front door. “Bye guys.”

“Bye.” AJ and Kevin called out.

They listened for the front door to close, then AJ asked “Can I talk to you ‘bout somethin’ important Kev?”

“Yeah, sure. Does this have to do with Christin?” Kevin asked with much wisdom in his voice.

“Yeah. Kev, can you keep this just between you and me?”

“You know I can. Wassup?”

“Last night me and Christin finally made it. It was so magical. I’ve never experienced something like that. I’ve had sex alot of times but nothing compared to this. I thought the feelings were mutual but right now, I’m so confused.” AJ just let it all out.

“It sounds to me like you’ve finally fallen in love with the right woman. This might be your first time loving someone like you love Christin. And what do you mean you ‘thought’ the feelings were mutual. I know Christin. She wouldn’t have slept with you, had she not felt something. Maybe if she didn’t work with us, but she has strong work ethics about mixing business with pleasure.”

“Well, when I wake up she’s gone, all her stuff’s gone, and she won’t answer the phone when I call. My guess is that she regrets it happening.”

“Well, Bone, to me it sounds like she’s confused. Like she woke up and freaked out. Maybe she wasn’t ready to fess up to her feelings. Have you thought about that?” Kevin concluded.

“Honestly, she’s all I’ve been able to think about, Kev. What am i supposed to do?”

“Just give her time. When she’s ready, she’ll call. Believe me.”

“Ok Kev. Thanks. I better get going. I gotta go to the store, so I gots to work on a disguise. Got any ideas?”

“Yeah, Dress like Nick. No one likes him.” Kevin and AJ laughed.

“Later.” AJ got up and walked out the door.
