Chapter 51

“Why am I going to lunch with you? I thought we were eating in.” Amanda complained.

“We were. But I need you there. If anything should happen.” Christin changed gears.

Amanda looked back. “I don’t even know these people. Why am I eating lunch with them?”

“Because I am.” Christin slowed the car and turned the corner.

“O-kay.”

They rode the rest of the way in silence. When they got into the parking lot, Christin got out and waited for the limo to pull up with the guys. The limo pulled up and no one got out. They had to wait untill their bodyguards got out and opened the door for them.

The guys got out and walked over to Christin and Amanda with bodyguards following. “Guys, this is Amanda. Amanda this is Kevin, Brian, Howie, and you’ve met Nick and AJ.”

“Yeah. Hey guys.” Amanda waved.

“Hello.” Kevin walked over to her and shook her hand.

“Well, lets not just stand here. Lets get going. I’m hungry.” Nick whined.

“Yeah, we can’t keep the boy food deprived.” Christin grabbed Nicks hand and started walking towards the front entrance. “So, how is Margo? Tell me, tell me.”

“You’re just as bad as her you know that?” Nick kept on walking with everyone following.

“No, tell me.” Christin continued.

“Care to take this one Kev?” Nick turned his head around.

“Sure.” Kevin picked up the pace and came to the side of Christin.

“Even though you and Margo only spent a little time together, everytime she talks to me, she asks how you are.” Kevin explained.

“Well, you told her I was doing very good. Thank you very much.” She joked.

They were at the door and stopped. “We have to let the guards go in first. You know, to evaluate the place.” Kevin said as the rest of the group caught up and a few guards went in.

“Who would want to harm, no wait, even look at you?”

“You know I couldn’t agree with you more. Why anyone would want tham is beyond me, but me, I have to beat them off even thought they know I’m taken. I’m so fine. I’m so fine. I blow ya mind.”

“As if! Hun, hate to break it to you, but you do nothin for me. I been watching MTV just to see your ugly face.” She pinched his cheek.”Oh, by the way Kevin.” She turned to him. “I love the video for ‘The One.’ You did an amazing job. I like the way you pieced it together.” Christin complimented.

“Thank you. It was a cool project, and it gave the guys a break.” Kevin said.

“Back to me.” Security opened the door and signaled for them to come in. They all walked in.

“Yes, back to Nick. Well, I have a TV in my office, so I watch TRL, just to keep up with you and in doing so, I learn about who your competition is. NSYNC.”

“NSUCK.” Nick mumbled.

“Well, whatever, and fro boy does more for me than you.” Christin joked, but Nick stopped dead in his tracks, while Brian and Kevin, the only two who heard her, laughed their butts off.

“What did you say? I know you didn’t just go there!” Nick started to go off playfully.

Christin turned around and faced Nick. “Nick. Lighten up. To tell you the truth, I don’t see what the big deal is about. NSYNC is kinda messed up to me!” Nick and Christin started walking again. They walked into a large dining room with one big, round, table in the center, with guards at the door and a few inside. “Dang. Gettin’ your own dining room in less than fifteen minutes. Now thats what I call service.”

“See, they love me.” Nick pulled out a chair for Christin, which just happened to be next to Amanda and AJ.

“Thank you.” Christin scooted up her chair. Amanda leaned over and whispered in Christins ear. “Wanna switch places?”

Chrsitin shook her head no, and said, “Its aight.”

“Okay.”

“Christin, why do you think are so messed up?” Nick sat down at the other end of the table.

(Authors Note: Nothing personnal. I was just watching their HBO concert and couldn’t stop laughing.)

“Ok. The only time I’ve seen them was when I watched the MTV Movie Awards, and their video on TRL, right now. First off, the fro boy’s hair. His hair dances more than he does. Secondly, personally, I think you’re just... just... real. You look at them and you see someone made for the market. They just have that... fake look.”

“I know. We’re more real.” AJ remarked.

“Oh, and I watched a commercial for Mickey D’s, and NSYNC and Britney Spears were playing spin the bottle, and one of the guys spun the bottle to kiss Britney but instead, it landed on fro boy. Fro boy’s face was hilarious!” Christin laughed.

“Aww, AJ you should have been advertising McDonalds. You eat there more than anyone. But instead you let NSUCK and Britney advertise.” Howie laughed.

“Yeah, who let those freaks on camera, much less advertise for *my* Micky D’s?” AJ complained.

“Hello, I’m your waiter, Jason. Can I get you something to drink?” A friendly young man addressed them.

“Coke.” Kevin said.

”Coke.” Brian said.

“Sprite.” Nick said.

“Coke.” Howie said.

“Coke.” AJ said.

“And for the ladies?” the waiter asked.

“Sprite please.” Amanda replied.

“And for you miss?”

“Mineral water, please.” Christin answered.

“I’ll be right back with your drinks and some menus.” He walked away.

“Ya know, Chris, you can drink one soda without having to worry about getting fat, as you say.” Kevin remarked.

“I know, but carbonated water and caffeine aren’t agreeing with my stomach. Unless you want to see a very sick me, then I’m sticking with water.”

“What’s wrong?” AJ asked, worried.

“A cold or something.” Chrsitin remarked. Their eyes met for a few moments, sending chills throughout both of their bodies. Chrsitin immediately averted her eyes. “So, how are things in your Backstreet world? It’s got to be calm. I haven’t scheduled much.”

“Yeah, Kev here has already started planning our next tour.” Howie noted.

“So, when do I lose my job? The first plan is to find my replacement, remember.”

“I’ve got a better idea. Why don’t you just stick around untill the tour is over. Problem solved.” Kevin said.

“No, Kevin. I’m givng you some warning. No questions, but I’m going to have to leave you all. I’m going to quit in two months. No. Shush. No questions, remember.” Christin put her finger on her mouth. “Let’s not talk about it, we still have a few months.”

The waiter came back with their drinks and some menus. “Let me knnow if there is anything else I can get you, and I will be right back to take your orders.” He walked away.

Everyone picked up their menus and started looking at them. The mere thought of food made Christin queasy. Christin quickly said. “If he comes back before I get back, will you please? I gotta go to the restroom. Excuse me.” Christin got up quickly before she could be questioned, and hurried off.

Amanda, sensing something was wrong, got up and followed her. “Excuse me.” She said as she got up.
