Chapter 58
It was their fourth day in Seattle. The last two days had been filled with what was planned. Amanda was mesmerized with the show that the guys put on together. The crowd only consisted of a few hundreds, Amanda could only imagined what it was like to be at with fifty thousand fans. Everyone had spent to last day at the children’s home they were doing this charity work for. Visiting and playing with the children was good for the all of them. It gave them all back some sense as why they were in this business. Now one and all were at the hotel just relaxing.
Christin being bored, changed into some workout clothes, a sports bra and a pair of wind shorts, and headed to the gym she had met Melissa at days earlier. Seeing that one of the basketball courts was opened, she found a ball and began to shoot around. Nothing serious, just something to do. After about five minutes of that, a guy approached her and asked, “Do you wanna play? I ain’t got no one to play with, maybe you would like someone to play with as much as I want someone to play with.”
Christin turned her head to see a fine guy, about six foot, maybe a little taller, well built, you could see the muscles and he bulging six pack, dark hair and gorgeous emerald eyes. “Are you sure? I mean I wouldn’t want to go out of your way cause you feel sorry for me or something. I’ll play though if that is what you really want.”
“I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t want to. I need someone to play one on one with and none of my friends would get their lazy butts out of bed and come down here. By the way…I’m Zak.” This newly met stranger held his hand out. After shaking Christin’s hand, he took the ball out of her hands and shot it.
“Christin.” She shot the ball when she grabbed it to score. “Let’s play. You can have the ball first.” Christin grabbed the ball and tossed it to him. “Wouldn’t want you think I wasn’t generous.”
Zak laughed and they begin a very intense game between the two of them. Both of them were totally focused on winning the game. They both decided to take a break after about thirty and that would be half time. The score at that point 41-38 Christin winning. Christin downed half the bottle of water and handed the other half to Zak.
“You pretty good for a girl.” Zak teased. Although in his mind she was better than some of the guys he had played, heck she was beating him and, not to brag or anything, he didn’t find many people who could beat him to often.
“And you ain’t bad for a guy.” She teased back. She liked him so far. He was actually a very good ball player. He damn sure wasn’t bad to look at. He was like a tall, mysterious gorgeous.
“So how old are you? I mean you ain’t gotta tell me or anything, I am just wondering and all. Ya know?”
Christin laughed. “You know it isn’t often I meet someone like you. Most guys are like how old are you? Over eighteen I hope. Hell even if you ain’t over eighteen we ain’t gotta tell no one. But anyways, I’m twenty-one. How bout you?”
“Damn girl. You must have played ball in school and if so whatever school you went to must have had a winning season. I am 27 by the way.” Zak continued to talk as he thought about the game he was playing.
“Yeah, I played a little ball in school. I didn’t play for the team or anything. But hey, I ain’t complaining. Ya know. I do something I love and I ain’t unhappy.” She shrugged her shoulders.
“I know what you is talking bout. I am still in college though. We just up here fore school starts up again.”
“Where ya going to college at and what are you studying?”
“I live down in Cisco and I wanna become a Pediatrician. Right now I am in my first year of residency. I am studying at Berkley but for a while there I was talking a few classes at Stanford. What about you girly?”
“There is no way you live in Cisco. That is where I live. We are talking about San Francisco too right?” Zak nodded at Christin. “That is just weird. But anyways to answer your question, I am a VP at The Firm. It’s a management company.”
“I think I know where that is. It is right down the street and a few blocks from the hospital.”
“That’s just tight. Well I think we best get back to the game unless you wanna just give and save yourself the humiliation.” Christin laughed.
“Naw. I’m going to keep playing. Wouldn’t want you to think I let you win. I’m gonna kick your booty though.” He pulled his shirt off exposing a very well built torso. He grabbed the ball and tossed it over to Christin. “Your ball.”
“Bring it on.” She caught the ball. “You wanna stay in here or go play outside on one of the courts. Get some fresh air from Seattle.” She smiled.
“We’ll go outside.” He led her out the doors to the outside court that was free. “Let’s get your loss over with he said as soon as the were outside on the court. He checked the ball to her.
“You wish.” She bounced it back to him. The game continued. Twenty minutes into the second half, an orange came out of nowhere and hit Christin in the head. “What the fuck??” Christin dropped the ball and put her hands over her head Feeling nothing else, she looked up.
Zak stood there above her. “What was that?” He held his hand down to help her up. “Are you okay Christin?”
She accepted his hand and stood up straight. “Yeah. I think so at least. It was just a shock. Where did it come from?” She looked up again at the sky.
“Your guess is just as good as mine. But it was pretty good aim to hit you on the head like that.” He laughed slightly.
Still looking up, she saw a person appear on one of the balconies. “Hungry??” Someone shouted out. Suddenly an apple landed beside Zak. Following the apple were more various fruits.
Christin and Zak dodged this way and that to avoid from getting hit from the fruit. When the fruit stopped falling, Christin looked back up towards the balcony, but no one was there.
“Asshole.” Christin mumbled.
“Friend of yours?” Zak grabbed her arm and began walking back to the inside portion of the gym.
“Yeah, a soon to be deceased friend of mine. Wanna go to jail with me for murder? You can be my accomplice.” She joked half-heartily.
“No. Someone has to visit you from the outside. You know bring you the news. I’ll have to do it.” He smiled at her as he opened the door for her.
“Aw. Thanks. That’s so sweet of you.” She walked in followed by Zak.
As they were gathering their belongings, Brian happened to walk into the gym follow by his bodyguard. “Zak, can we please leave the gym the other way out. Death is not on my list of things to do right now.” Christin pulled Zak towards the backdoor of the gym.
“Christin?!?” Brian called out.
Christin continued to walk the other way with Zak. “Brian Littrel, I wouldn’t be talking to me if I were you unless of course you have a death wish.”
Brian jogged over to her and fell in step along side of her. “Hi! I’m Brian.” He introduced himself to Zak with his rolling Kentucky accent.
“Zak.” He stopped Christin and held his hand out to Brian and they shook hands.
“Wassup with the dying thing? Do you know? I wouldn’t want to die just by talking to Christin here. It would be such a waste for her to go to jail over me. Though I knows she loves me so much she would.” He smiled cheesily. (AN: I don’t usually do a lot of author notes but I have to do this one. LOOK. Amanda, it’s our word.)
“Well Brian, I don’t blame her for wanting to kill you. I should want to, too but I have decided to let her do and then I will visit her from the outside. If you’re the one who was throwing fruit at as and all, you know, it’s nothing personal.” Zak replied jokily.
“Oh dude that was you. Sorry about that bro.”
“Zak, please tell Brian to stop speaking with me or even being so near me. His voice is tempting me to jump on him and try to take him right here, right now. Even with that muscle man behind his ugly ass.” Christin crossed her arms. “This sudden urge to kill him with my bare hands is to tempting with him being this close and all.”
“Now Christin, what has violence ever solved???”
“I’m bout to show you what violence will solve.” She jumped at him playfully but seriously too. Unfortunately, Brian’s bodyguard came between them and gently picked Christin up and set her down next to Zak.
“Now Christin, I know you are the one who is kinda employing me here, but you did tell me not to let no one ruin this skinny boy’s face even if I wanted to do it myself. So if I can’t do it, neither can you.” He smiled down at her.
“Oh come on. You can help me. I’ll let you get a few hits in.” She was laughing at this point. “No. Okay. Whatever, Zak, do me a favor and walk me to my room. Away from this annoying person, I’m not allowed to kill.”
“Sure Chrissy. It was nice meeting you Brian.” He shook Brian’s hand again then took Christin’s hand. “Let’s go girly with an amazing jumper shot.” They walked away.
“Oh boy. AJ’s not going to like this. Brian said as he watched them in the distance.
“So here we are.” She stopped at her room. “Wanna come in?” She opened the door with her key.
“Why not?” He shrugged his shoulders and allowed he to go in first and followed her.
“Um, Christin I know we just met and all. And I can see you’re about to say no but just hear me out first. Would you like to have dinner tonight in the hotel as friends? Nothing else but friends. It would be totally platonic. Nothing fancy.” Zak awkwardly asked as he moved from one foot to another.
“Of course Zak. I would love to have dinner with you tonight. I would be an honor. Besides I have never passed up an invitation from an incredibly sexy guy. And you being I incredibly sexy guy, I have to say yes.” Christin laughed.
Zak blushed a little. “So what time do you want me to pick you up?”
“Tell you what. Security on this floor in tight. So why don’t I meet you downstairs in front of the restaurant at um…” She looked down at her watch, “Eightish. Sound alright?”
