Chapter 59

“Hey Chris! Wassup girl? Where you going so dressed up all nice and stuff? I know you didn’t just get dressed up for nothing so what gives?”

“Where I am going? Is that what you wanna know from me? I think the question here is where have you been?” Christin put on her earrings then turned to face Amanda.

“Ummm…Well.” Amanda walked past Christin towards the window. “That so is not the original question. You don’t have to worry about where I have been.”

“Oh my God. You were with a guy. Someone I know maybe? Wait, don’t tell me….Let me guess…ummm. Could it be…no…you only know the guys here in Seattle. Nick…taken. Howie…taken. Oh my GOD! That only leaves Kevin. You were with Kevin. You were out with Kevin. You guys are so made for each other. It’s Kevin, huh?” Christin jumped up and down excitedly. How cool is it that her two best friends were going out.

Amanda unknowingly blushed giving herself away as she tried to turn away. ‘Damn Christin. She is too perceptive for her own good. This was supposed to be a secret. Obviously you can’t keep a secret with her around.’ She

“I was right. This is perfect. My two best friends together. Oh yeah.” Christin went back to the task at hand. Curling her hair. She hated curling her hair but it looked so well curled so she would have to bear through it and do it. Tonight was all about getting rid of that tomboy image Zak no doubtable had about her.

“Don’t tell please??? We are going to keep it a secret. It is what we want. Keep the relationship on the downplay.” Amanda pleaded.

“Of course. MY lips are sealed.” She pretended to seal her lips. She stood up after curling one last piece of hair. She looked down at herself and asked, “How do I look.” She had on a tight-fitted, pale pink baby tee with a black knee length shirt. He hair was pulled back in with twistees in the front and curls in the back. Two pieces hung down in her face that was curled. Her make-up was applied lightly.

“You look great, radiant, in fact stunning. Where are you going?” Amanda asked again.

“I’ve got a date. Oh. Later. Time to get down there and meet up with him. Kiss kiss. “ She grabbed her keys and cell and was out the door before Amanda could say anything. Christin met Kevin in the hallway on her way downstairs.

“Hey…where’s the fire? You walking like you are trying to escape one.” Kevin joked.

“Downstairs, dinner. Amanda wants you.” Christin lied. She didn’t feel like answering all the questions she knew Kevin would ask and make her answer.

“Ok.” He smiled and began to walk off.

When Christin got downstairs to the restaurant, Zak was standing there looking incredibly hott. “Well, well, well. Isn’t someone looking very good. And when I say good, I mean GOOOD!” Christin joked.

“Well thank-you. You aren’t look bad yourself you know. I’m sure people will be looking at you more than me.” They locked arms and walked into the restaurant.

Sitting down Zak was a complete gentleman. He pulled her chair out and waited until she was seated and then pushed it in for her then took his seat. He sat down and began to speak to the waiter. “Just a glass of wine for the lady and …”

“Um…Zak…sorry to interrupt and I don’t want to be rude or anything but I can’t drink. The doctor advised me not too.” Christin smiled sweetly.

“Scratch the wine. What would you like??”

“Water is fine.”

“Ok two waters it will be. Can we please have two waters?” He turned to the waiter.

“Yes sir. Here are your menus.” He placed one menu in front of each of them and then gracefully walked away.

“I’m sorry about the wine. I just figured you could” He apologize sincerely.

“No need to apologize. It’s ok. It’s alright. I understand.” She smiled at him totally understanding.

“Ok. So…what’s wrong with you? Wait. That came out wrong. I mean…I think I am just going to shut up…”

“I know what you mean.” She laughed. “I’m not sick and dying or anything but at the moment I am not suppose to consume alcoholic beverages or smoke. I don’t smoke so no biggie.”

“What about drinking?”

“Well I’m not an alcoholic if that’s what you are asking but I do drink. I only really drink a lot when I am at a club or party. But sometimes I do miss out. I don’t go to the clubs or parties because it’s to much of a temptation.”

“Oh.” He picked up his menu and began to look it over. “What are you going to have?”

“Um…just a Caesar salad.” She replied.

“You can’t eat either?” He joked.

“Nope. I just don’t eat meat. I know, I must appear to be really picky. Sorry. Now you know.” She smiled.

“Oh I got a vegetarian on my hands.” He pretended to be horrified.

“So.” Just then the waiter walked up so she didn’t continue to talk.

“Two glasses of water.” He sat them down. “Have you decided what you will have to eat yet? May I suggest our special tonight? A garden salad, baked potato, asparagus, and the 12 ounce prime rib.”

“Um…I think she will have the large Caesar salad and I will have the special since it sounds so appetizing.” Zak answered in response to the waiter.

“Yes sir.” The waiter made note of it. “Is that it?”

“Yes thank you. “ The waiter took the menus and strolled off. “So tell me about yourself Christin.”

“What do you want to know?” She asked carefully.

“Maybe your last name for starters?” He laughed.

“Oh ok…my last name is Casey. Christin Kay Casey. How about yours’?”

“Bell. Zachary Christopher Bell Jr. Do you have a boyfriend?” This was the question he was most anxious to know.

“Yeah.” She watched his face fall. “I have lots of friends that are boys.” She countered.

“No. A boyfriend? Someone you’re dating at the moment and have a serious relationship with and that you want to continue.” His face relit.

“Nope. Sorry no boyfriend. Girlfriend?”

“Nuh Huh. Free to fly and pick up chicks.”

“Well that’s a good thing…” She laughed.

“So what exactly are you doing here in Seattle? You haven’t told me that yet.”

“I’m here on business. How many people are you with here?” Christin asked trying to change the subject away from anything that had to do with AJ.

“Two more guys. What kind of business?” Zak asked not understanding.

“Management. Are they real good friends of yours?” She continued to try to change the subject.

“Yea. They are great friends of mine. Remind me to introduce you. Speaking of friends…who was that guy that dumped fruit on us?” He continued to pry wanting to get to know her better.

“Brian, is a business client along with four of his friends. They are also good friends of mine.”

“Ohhhh. What exactly do you do as a vice-president?”

“Well I mostly do paper work and talk with potential clients. I don’t really travel a lot but recently I became a manager again. I’ll quit pretty soon though and they know it so they better find a new one.”

“And you’re only twenty-one? How old were you when you graduated?”

“I was sixteen when I graduated from high school and twenty when I graduated from college. I’ve been working since I was 16 at The Firm. It’s something I love to do. It’s not a job I dread going to. Why do you want become a pediatrician? Why not an ER doctor or a surgeon?

“I love kids. Children are the future so I wanna make sure that some children have a future. ER is something I am considering though. ER pediatrics. I think it would be a great challenge. A challenge that I would more then welcome.”

“What about kids? I mean you do want to have a family and settle down right?”

“One day. After I get my career started I hope to find the right woman. If I find her before hand though, I won’t ever let her go. Never. I’ll marry her. Never let another man near her. Always make her feel loved and always love her. She would be the olnl person in the world.” Zak said with conviction.

They were interrupted by a throat clearing.
