Chapter 8

Back With Amanda and Christin

When they arrived at the club, it was 8:54 and The Club was already packed. When they finally found a parking space, Christin climbed out of the car and took of her long shirt. She folded it neatly and placed it in the seat. Amanda had already gotten out of the car and was waiting on Christin.

“Ready to Party, Girl.” Christin yelled as she walked towards her, causing others to look at Christin.

“Yeah more then ready, Lets go. The sooner we go in the sooner we can leave.”

“No we ain’t leaving till I get drunk and find a few guys. Oh yeah, by the way. You're the designated driver. Kewl. Kewl.”

They arrived at the door of the club to find a lot of people yelling at the bouncer, who was a guy, to let them in.

“Good it’s a guy. You can have the passes. Watch and learn.”

Christin grabbed Amanda’s hand and pulled her to the front of the crowd. When they got to the front Christin walked up to the bouncer and told him something causing him to smile. He then shook his head yes. Christin walked over and grabbed Amanda’s arm and walked towards the door. She passed by the bouncer and winked at him. When they were in, Amanda asked, “What did you tell him?”

“Oh nothing. I just asked him it he wanted a poor, defenseless person like myself outside in the cold, wearing this outfit, where I could get hurt. That it would be better if he let me in so he could send only big strong guys in to protect me. He said that I better go in then. By letting me in he let you in. Now lets go find some guys.”

“You go find the guys and I will sit over there at that table. Okay.”

“Party pooper. Just make sure I don’t do anything stupid like going home with a strange guy. Please?”

“Okay goes mingle already.”

“Alright. I am heading.”

Just then “The Bad Touch” by the Bloodhound Gang came on.

“Oh my song.” Christin happily cooed to herself. She started to make her way to the dance floor. When she made it there a good looking blonde guy asked her to dance. Of course she said yes.

When she got out on the dance floor she started to dance freak-nasty. The guy she was dancing with though had no problem keeping rhythm. “He’s a good dancer.” she thought, “Not my type but he’ll do for a few dances.”

Nick couldn’t believe his luck. Not only had he found a beautiful chick to dance with but a chick that could dance and wasn’t afraid to show it, even if it was a freak-nasty dance. The more they danced, the more Nick thought, “Man I can’t wait to show her off to the other guys. They gonna be so jealous. Oh yeah. I'm the man.”

When the song ended, Amber’s “Sexual” came on and they continued to dance to the song. “By the way I’m Nick.”

“Christin.”

“You’re a good dancer.” Nick said.

“Thanks. So are you.” She slightly shouted.

“Lots of practice.”

“Yeah, whenever I get the chance I come out to the clubs, but this one is the best in the city.”

“Oh, I'm from out of town, so I wouldn’t know.” For some reason, Nick knew this woman didn’t know who he was. So he would just tell the truth minus the whole being rich, famous, and A Backstreet Boy.

“Where you from?” Christin asked casually but Nick had sparked her curiosity.

“Tempa, but I stay in Orlando. You know for my job.”

“What do you do?”

“I’m in the entertainment industry. What do you do?”

“Oh that’s what profession I’m in."

Just then song ended “Can I buy you a drink Christin?”

“Sure.”

“What do you want?” He grabbed her and hand and started towards the bar.

“Oh just a margarita.”

“Ok. One margarita, please.” Nick knew he couldn’t buy drinks but maybe they wouldn’t ID him. Lucky for him they were busy and were not really ID-ing anyone. After he paid for the drink he handed it to Christin. Christin thanked him politely and said she had to go find her friend because she was alone, but that she would be back later. Nick said okay he’d look for her.

Nick walked back to a table to find all the guys sitting around.

The guys saw Nick, Kevin whistled, “Hey Frack, who was that cute little honey you were dancing with?”

“Man is she not dope or what? The first dance before I even know her name she was getting a little freaky-”

“A little? I saw the way you were dancing. She was all over you boy.” Howie yelled over the music.

“I know but the best part was that she doesn’t even know who I am. Or at least she sure can act if she does. I don’t know what she does exactly but she has something to do with the entertainment business. Her name is Christin.”

“Christin?” A.J. questioned. “Man this is going to be harder than I thought with Nick trying to get with a girl named Christin. Every time I hear her name, I’ll think about my Christin.” A.J. thought.

“Yeah, Christin. Next time I see her I’ll introduce you. Cool?”

“Yeah. Cool. I think I’m going to find me a chick to dance with. See ya guys later.” A.J. got up and walked away. He stopped when he saw a familiar brunette sitting next to a blonde woman. He started to walk closer. The closer he got the more he could see her. It was Christin! He didn’t want to seem desperate to talk to her, although he was, so he walked over coolly and figured he would ask Amanda to dance, to see what Christin’s reaction was.

He walked up slowly. When he reached the table he saw a half drunken margarita and 2 empty shot glasses. He greeted Amanda. “Amanda.” She looked up and smiled.

“Yes. Do I know you?” Amanda asked while she tried to figure out who that was.

“Oh yeah. Alex from work. I know I look a lot different.” A.J. replied when he realized that he did look a lot different.

“Oh Alex. Sorry didn’t recognize you. You do look a lot different. What are you doing here?” Amanda inquired as she realized the guy she liked was standing in front of her.

“I was wondering if you want to dance?” A.J. asked hoping she would say no so he could ask Christin.

“Well not right now. Maybe in about five minutes. Will that be ok?”

“Yeah cool, but till then Christin can I get a dance with you?” A.J. prayed she would say yes.

Christin, who hadn’t looked up since Alex walked over, finally looked up, “What?” She knew what he had said but didn’t want to because she knew Amanda had a crush on him and wouldn’t like the fact that her best friend was dancing with him instead of her.

“I said, Wanna dance till Amanda is ready?” A.J. again replied.

Christin knew she had to come up with an excuse so she said the first thing that popped into her head, “Sorry. I don’t dance with people I work with.” Christin let out a sigh of relief.

A.J. thought, “Oh well I don’t need that job anyways.” “I Quit!” he said flatly. “Damn. Now she will know I like her.” He thought.

Christin, who was taken back by that statement couldn’t believe it, “What?”

“I said that I quit. I planned on quitting anyways. I just found out that I’m moving.” A.J. retorted.

“Oh well.” Christin looked around. “ I really would like to dance with you but I doubt my date will like that.” Christin said as she looked around for a guy she could claim. She spotted Nick. “Yes,” she thought. “I’m sure Amanda wants to dance though.”

“Sorry. Can’t Christin. Alex, I would love to dance but I really can’t cause I hurt my ankle dancing earlier.” In truth she hadn’t even been on the dance floor. She just didn’t wanna dance because she didn’t think she could. But in all honesty she could almost get as freaky as Christin on the dance floor.

“Christin, whose is your date? I’ll make sure it is ok to dance with you. So point him out.” A.J. said wanting to see what kind of man she went for.

“I’ve a better idea. You sit here with Amanda and I’ll go get him. Kewl? Kewl.” She figured she could convince Nick to be her date for tonight if she could talk to him alone. Christin got up and started to walk towards Nick. She had a little buzz but could still could think straight. She could see that Nick was the same way, when she reached him.

“Hey Nick.” She yelled over the crowd that separated Nick and her.

Nick turned around when he heard someone say his name. He immediately saw Christin trying to get to him. He decided to help her out by going to her. When he reached her she immediately hugged and gave him a peck on the lips. “God her lips feel good.” Nick couldn’t help but what ask what was up or anything else she explained.

“Just play along. Okay here’s the deal. I don’t wanna dance with this guy but the only good excuse I could come up with is that I have a date. So Mr. Nick will you be my date. Puh-lease!”

“Sure. No problem. Any guy in his right mind wouldn’t turn you down.” Nick said seriously causing Christin to blush and smile.

“I’m sure there are few people who would disagree with you but let’s not get into that. Let’s go have my date…”she grabbed Nick’s hand, “meet this guy who wants to dance with me.” Christin, smile as she started walking towards A.J. and Amanda.

When Nick and Christin arrived at the table she said, “Alex meet Nick. Nick is my date. Nick, this is Alex.” A.J. turn around to see Nick.

“Nick? What are you doing? How can you have a date? You came single, willing to mingle. Remember?” A.J. questioned confused.

“Wait. You know each other.” Christin hesitantly said.

“Yeah. I’ve known Nick for seven years. How do you know him?” A.J. asked.

“Nick, you know Alex?” Christin turned to Nick and asked.

“Yeah-” Nick was interrupted by Christin pulling him on the dance floor.

“This is my song.” Christin stated while she begin to dance to “Waiting For Tonight” by Jennifer Lopez.

She wasn’t dancing that freaky, but was getting down. Not that Nick minded but he had a feeling that Christin was the girl that A.J. was talking about earlier. He wanted to know for sure though so he asked, “How do you know A. um Alex?” remembering to call him Alex instead of A.J. as to not give A.J. away.

“Oh. I met him at work.” Christin said leaving it at that.

“Oh.”

When they finished dancing Christin looked down at her watch. 11:47. She wasn’t really ready to leave but she didn’t want to stick around to talk to Alex anymore. So she walked back to the table where Amanda and Alex were talking. Christin, as not to be obvious, walked up with Nick holding her hand casully said, “Can you believe it is almost midnight?”

When Amanda heard that she looked at her watch. 11:49. She wasn’t ready too leave. She could also tell that Christin wanted to leave by the way Christin mentioned the time. Normally she would stay far away from Amanda as possible when it was time to leave.

“Oh yeah. It sure is. Well guys sorry to disappoint you but we are gonna scoot.” Amanda while she got up and grabbed her purse.

“Where you going?” A.J. asked. He still hadn’t got to dance with Christin.

“Sorry guys. We gotta get some sleep. Got stuff to do tomorrow. Maybe I’ll see ya around. Bye Alex. Bye Nick.” She walked up to Nick and gave him a peck of a kiss. She then grabbed Amanda’s hand and started walking towards the door. They got outside there was a bigger crowd waiting to get in and a different bouncer.

They quickly walked to Christin’s Porsche. She handed Amanda the keys and semi-whispered, “You drive. I’ve had a few to drink plus I got a headache."

Amanda, happy that she was getting to drive, took the keys, unlocked the door, and climbed in the driver’s seat, She the unlocked Christin’s door. The ride home was silent.
