Em and Nick were still making out, the waves crashing along shore and the full moon lighting up the ocean. A hand started to slip under Em’s shirt and that’s when everything stopped, for a brief second anyway.
“Nick, what did I tell you?”
“Sorry, it’s just I get caught up in the moment, and one thing leads to another…”
“I know and I should of figured those harmones would overtake ya, so you’re forgiven” She replied, giving him a big smile.
“That’s great. How ‘bout we just watch the stars for a bit?”
“Yes, that sounds like lovely idea, Mr. Carter”
“I figured as much, Ms. Emily”
So they held each other for hours on end, gazing at the sky peacefully as they finally felt happy. Happy that they found someone who made them feel…complete.
AJ and Amy were still dancing as well, talking and laughing over the night’s events.
“I still can’t believe we ditched the dinner date for golf” Amy said suddenly.
“Well, look who you’re with!” He replied as they both laughed.
“I like adventurous guys” She said smiling.
“And I like beautiful women who are honest and enjoy adventurous guys”
“I also like the type who can say anything at all, just so they can impress someone. Oh and they have to have tattoos, and lots of ‘em”
“My type would have to be the innocent-looking on the outside, but not so innocent on the inside. She also has a secret tattoo that I’m dying to find”
“In time, AJ. In time. Innocent type huh? Definitely not me”
“It could be you” He said.
“Damn AJ, look at us. All we ever do is flirt”
“Flirt and kiss. You can’t forget that part” He said, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
“You know what I mean. We never talk”
“So what we’re doing right now is…baking?” He asked sarcastically.
“Ha-ha, funny”
“Look, we’re dancing too. So there’s a lot of kissing, flirting, talking, and baking going on” He said, making her laugh, “And laughing as well”
“How did I meet such a wonderful guy?”
“It all started when you honked your horn…”
“Perv, but go on”
“Right. Anyway, you thought one glance at me was definitely not enough, so you came back. Then we flirted, had some good times as well as bad, and we ended up right where we are now”
“Nice shortened format. Did you practice that?”
“Nopes, just thought it up real quick”
“You’re the first guy in awhile to make me feel…happy. Not just happy, but you know, excited and wanting to know what’ll happen next”
“I tend to have that effect on women”
“AJ, knock off the flirting”
“Seriously, I feel the same. It’s nice to know someone likes me for me, and not for what I do…and I didn’t just say that”
“Say what? You’re job is your business”
“Don’t I wish it was”
“Alex, what are you saying?”
“It’s funny how you and Em haven’t figured it out on your own yet” He said, going off topic.
“Could you get to the point before I kick your ass?”
“Yeah, that would be good, wouldn’t it?” He asked, as she nodded in agreement, “Well, you’ve probably seen me before, on those things we like to call magazines and television. There’s also posters and books and pillows and the list goes on…”
“Oh…my…gosh…AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys…that’s you…and I need to sit down” Amy said surprised as she sat down on the couch.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you but it seemed so much more fun ‘cause you didn’t know who I was. You liked me for me”
“I am a little mad, but at least you were honest and let me know sooner” She said, still not believing it was him.
“Is this going to change what we had? Are you going to dump my ass because I’ll understand and all. I mean, it’s natural…” He began to say, when Amy cut him off with a kiss. She broke away from the kiss and looked him in the eyes.
“I’m not going to leave you just because you’re famous and have a lot of crazy fans. You’re special and I’m not letting that go, not yet anyway” She said as they both smiled.
“How about we just call it a night and go to sleep?”
“This isn’t some plan to get me in bed with you to do some things is it?”
“I promise it’s not” He said, as they both walked upstairs to his room.
After a while, Nick looked down and saw Em sleeping. He picked her up and carried her to the car, than hopped in the other side. He was about to start the car, when she woke up.
“Hey, we’re leaving?”
“Yeah, you fell asleep so I’m taking you home”
“You don’t have to. I’m sure your place is fine”
“If you say so” He replied and started the car.
“You look so familiar. Where have I seen you before?” She asked suddenly, and Nick felt that he should be at least honest.
“Magazines, television, books, pillows, pens, magnets…”
“No way, it can’t be. I’m such a dumbass. I’ve been calling you Mr. Carter and it never clicked”
“It’s alright. So are you upset?”
“Why should I be? You’re famous and I’ll just have to deal” She said, matter-of-factly.
“Cool. Now back to my place” He replied as they continued to talk.
He was surprised she had taken it so well. Usually, girls would freak because he was the Nick Carter, but not this time. Em was different and that’s what he liked about her the most.
