Over the next few weeks, Nick tried to talk to Katie, when they finally did talk, he explained he was sorry and that he thinks that he isn't ready to be married again that he needs to be single and have fun, but that he does want to be a part of Hayley's life and that maybe in the future they could get back together. He told her this on Valentine's day. When she got back to Kevin's house after her talk with Nick, she had to talk to Kevin because she had been working for a few weeks and had enough money to move into her own apartment that she found a couple of days ago. "Katie, I don't want you and Hayley to move out" Kevin admitted. "Why not" Katie asked confused. "Cause um well I" he stuttered. "Kev, I don't' understand what you are saying, so just say it" Katie said. "Katie, I'm falling in love with you, please don't move out" Kevin confessed. "I......"Katie started. "You can't be. Your 30 years old, I'm almost 23" Katie said. "it's possible, I am. I haven't felt like his since my ex-fiancee left me 2 years ago" Kevin replied. Katie just sat there thinking. "Your not with Nick anymore, you can do anything you want" Kevin said kneeling down in front of her. "You don't have to answer me right now, but please think about it" Kevin whispered then kissed her passionately. Katie just looked at him, "if your trying to seduce me, it's gonna take a lot more than that" Katie laughed.

On Katie's 23rd birthday (April 14th)~~~~ Katie and Hayley stood on Nick's doorstep waiting for Nick to answer the door, since he had custody of her for the weekend. "Daddy" Hayley shrieked and ran up to him. Nick picked her up. "Bye sweetie" Katie said to Hayley and kissed her forehead. "Ok Nick here is everything she will need, my cell phone number is in there as well as my beeper number in case of an emergency" Katie said handed nick a duffel bag. "Katie, your acting like I have never taken care of her by myself before" Nick said. "yeah well, I'm not going to be just 30 minutes away from here, my boyfriend is taking me down to 1 of the florida keys for the weekend, since it's my birthday" Katie replied. "happy birthday mommy" Hayley said for about the millionth time that day. "Thank you sweetie, call me Nick if there is any problems" Katie instructed then kissed her daughter's forehead then left.

A few hours later~~~ "it's beautiful here" Katie said standing infront of the sliding doors that opened up onto the beach. "Yeah it is" Kevin replied walking up behind her and hugging her. "Happy birthday baby" he whispered in her ear and started kissing the side of her neck.. She moaned and turned her head to the side and kissed him passionately. He picked her up and carried her over to the bed and laid her down in the middle. They began making out and taking off each other's clothes. They spent the next few hours loving each other passionately.

Later that day in Orlando~~~ "Hayley, who's your mommy's boyfriend" Nick asked as he handed her a new doll. "My godfather" Hayley replied taking the doll from Nick's hands. "And he is" Nick asked. "mommy said not to tell you, Daddy" "it's ok Hayley you can tell me, I promise I won't tell mommy that you told me" Nick persuaded. "Keby" Hayley said since that is what she called him. "Kevin" Nick asked Hayley nodded. Nick grinned evilly to himself as he picked up the phone to leave a nasty threatening message on Kevin's voice mail as well as Katie's. ~~Later that Night~~Katie checked her voice mail, and dropped the phone to the floor when she heard Nick's evil laugh. "Katie are you really that stupid? You think that you can leave me, and start seeing another Backstreet Boy with out me finding out. You better get your ass back here if you wanna see Hayley ever again" Was the message that Nick left.

A day later~~~ Katie stood on Nick's doorstep pounding on the door. After a few minutes, Nick opened the door dressed only in his boxers. "Where is Hayley?" Katie demanded. "You have no right, to take away my custody of my daughter, because I'm going out with Kevin" Katie yelled. "Too late, as of 9 this morning, you have no more custody of her" Nick said, grinning evilly to himself. "It wasn't even 24 hours ago, that you left those threatening voice mails, and both of us would have to go to court!" Katie yelled. "It just happens that a very good friend of mine is a judge" Nick replied nonchalantly. Katie went to walk past him and go into the house, but Nick grabbed her arm. "You can't see her at all, not even to say good-bye, if you do, I will have you arrested" Nick told her. "What will it take for me to see my daughter" Katie asked trying not to break down and cry in front of him. "Dump Kevin and let me have you all to myself" Nick said. "And when im not with you, you will be with some other girl, or slut or whatever. No I am not leaving him, I love him" Katie told him crossing her arms over her chest. "Ok just dump him and you'll get some custody" "No!, I love him!" Katie yelled. "Then you will never see her again. Now leave before I call the police!" Nick yelled. Katie walked down the sidewalk to her car and got in the drivers seat. She turned back to look at the house. She saw Nick walk inside and shut the door, then she looked up to the second floor, and saw Hayley looking out the window, holding her stuffed bunny. She looked like she had been crying. Katie pulled the car out of the driveway and drove to hers and Kevin's house, where she went up to the master bedroom, laid down on the bed and started crying. ~~Later that Night~~ Kevin came home to a completely dark house. He expected to hear Katie and Hayley but the house was an eerie quiet. He turned on the light in the kitchen. Propped up on the counter was an envelope with his name on it. He opened it and started reading the letter inside

Kevin re-read the letter. He then noticed the key inside the envelope. As he walked up the stairs, to take a shower, a few tears were sliding down his cheeks, but later that night, that is when he really broke down and starting crying and sobbing, wishing that Katie was in his arms.
