She decided it would be to suspicious if she walked out of the store without
buying anything, so she went over to the candy section and thought she would
spend her last 50 cents on a pack of gum. But while she was there she
decided to take a couple candy bars as well

"Bri", Kevin whispered. "What?", Brian asked, looking up from a
magazine he was skimming through. "That girl over there", Kevin said,
pointing. Brian saw the girl he was talking about. She was about 5'5'',
stawberry blonde hair, green eyes, and was wearing a beat-up grey coat. She
couldn't have been more than 18 years old. "What about her?", Brian asked.
"She's shoplifting. I just saw her put a few candy bars into her bag." "Kev,
it's just a few candy bars. I did that once, too." "Yeah, but I saw other
things in her bag. And when you did it were you as old as she looks?" Brian
considered this. "No. What other things does she have?" "It looked like a
couple bottles of Yoohoo and maybe some chips." "Should we tell the guy at
the register?", Brian asked. Kevin thought hard. "No. I'd rather confront her
myself. It'd save her the embarassment. I think she's homeless." "How can
you tell?" "Bri, it's not too hard to tell. I'm not sure she's homeless but if
she is there's a shelter around here for her."  They watched as the girl went to
the register and paid for a pack of gum. Immediatly after, the guys paid for
their purchases and walked out, eager to find the girl. She was half-way
down the street. Kevin started to jog. "Kev!", Brian whined. He was holding the
bags of groceries, thereby making it harder for him to jog. Kevin
reluctantly took a bag and then they both started after the girl.
