PART 64
AJ and Jenn watched as Ty ran in the elevator and pushed them against the wall. "Don't say a word!" she whispered, "And stay there." she added as she pounded on the Close Doors button. Seeing the doors close she sighed with relief and leaned against the wall as the elevator began its descent to the lobby.
Exchanging nervous looks with her husband, Jenn finally spoke. "What's going on Ty? Why are you shaking?"
She took a wobbly breath. "He's threatening Howie. If he doesn't go back to Lou's management for his solo career, they'll prove he was responsible for someone's death."
"That's it I'm going up there!" AJ said starting to reach over Ty to hit the button.
"No you're not!!" Jenn snapped. "You're taking me and Ty out of here right now."
Kevin wandered downstairs, rubbing his eyes as they adjusted to the lighting. "Alec??"
"Out here."
He walked outside and found her sitting on the deck, her feet propped up on the railing. "Why's the place so silent?"
"We're the only two here."
Sitting down he looked at the house. "How can that be possible?"
"Nick never came back, Ty went out...Howie didn't come home...Brian and Shan well I'm not sure about them, if they came back or not and left again, maybe they didn't come back. Haven't seen them in awhile."
"We're messed up." he said, turning his attention to his wife. "Any news from JC?"
"Nothing. I'm beginning to think that's a dead end."
"He said to give them a few days."
"And we are...Kevin I want this over with." she sighed, "I want our lives back. This isn't living Kev, its not even existing. I hate seeing what this is doing to you...to everyone."
"I agree."
"Then what do we do?"
Kevin sat there in silence for a good ten minutes, staring out at the water. "We confront Lou on our own."
David was locking up his office when he heard footsteps behind him. Turning his head he saw three people watching him. "Guess its not time to head home." he said, unlocking the locks and ushering them inside. "Go on in, I'll just lock the door back up."
Nick stared up at the ceiling, trying to sort things out in his mind. So what if he wanted to leave Orlando and everything behind. It wasn't like he was running, he reasoned. All he wanted was to be away from the hold of Lou. Even if they weren't under his management he was still controlling them. It took a sick man to enjoy the kind of hold he had over them right now. He sighed as he rolled over, besides there was nothing wrong with wanting to go away and have some time to himself with Lis. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Howie locked the door to his office after Paul left and took a deep breath. Now that he was alone he couldn't stop shaking. He walked over to his window and stared out at the city lights. What the hell was he going to do now??
David took a large drink of his now cold coffee and stared at Ty. "They're trying to pin someone's death on Howie?"
"That's what I heard."
"Can he do that??" Jenn asked, wrapping her arm around Ty's shoulders. "I mean can't they arrest him for that?"
"Not for what they're saying."
AJ jumped out of his chair. "I'm going back over there."
"And do what J?" David asked, "If you run over there he'll know you were there. Don't forget you might be under watch by Lou right now too."
"Right now I don't care."
"Fine but if you go rushing over there and burst in and Paul's still there talking away..."
"I see the point." He sunk back into the chair. "I just want us out of this situation man."
"We all do. Maybe now is the time to talk to the police guys."
"Like they'd believe this."
Glancing around the relatively dark house, Shan turned to Brian. "We go home for a day and they abandon this place?"
He shrugged as he put his jacket away and headed through the house. Spotting the outside deck lights on he headed to the doors. "Hey." he greeted Alec and Kevin.
Kevin raised his head and stared blankly at his cousin. "Where you been?"
"We went home to spend a little time alone. Something happen?"
Alec slowly stood up, "I'll be inside."
Brian gave her a questioning look as she passed him heading inside. Sitting down in her chair he eyed his cousin. "What the hell is going on?"
Kevin took a long drink of his vodka and fixed his eyes on his cousin. "I'm going after Lou."
Shan watched Alec walk around the kitchen, pouring herself another drink. "Where's everyone?"
"Out I guess."
"How are you?"
Alec shrugged, "Worn out." she rubbed the back of her neck. "If Kev comes in tell him I went up to bed all right?"
"Course."
"Thanks. Night."
"Night." Shan called after her, feeling a bit confused. The entire mood of the house had changed again. Grabbing her bottled water, she headed for the living room to think.
Pulling into his driveway, Howie stared blankly at his house. The images kept flashing back through his mind, bits of life with the guys on the road, life with Ty, scenes he couldn't get to stop running through his head. Swinging the door open he stepped out into the muggy night air and immediately unbuttoned the top of his shirt. There had to be a way out, there had to be he thought as he headed towards the house.
JC hit play on his answering machine as he tossed the mail down on the counter. "Yo JC its Chris, Joey called said you wanted all of us to get together? What's up man? Call me back and let me know. We're all free the next few days. Talk to you later."
He sunk down onto the stool at the counter and looked out at his yard. "The thing is I don't doubt Lou would do the same to us." he said out loud as he reached for the phone.
