PART 67

Watching Brian walk back inside the house, Nick blew a strand of hair out of his face. Could they stop treating him like a five year old who couldn't make his own decisions? Hell they'd advised him on everything since he was thirteen, couldn't he do something on his own for once? And Lis, she was supposed to be his wife but she kept running to the other guys all the time. It was like she forgot she was supposed to talk to him.

AJ pulled the car up at the beachhouse. "I can't go in there."

"Why not?" she asked confused.

"Jenn, I'm under contract to Lou."

"Yeah huh..."

"If someone's watching me...it wouldn't look right. Besides I think the others are ready to kill me. I know Kevin is."

She sighed, "Okay you're right. I'll go see what's going on."

"Let me know will ya?"

"Course." she leaned over and kissed him. "Take care of yourself okay?"

"Will do. Now go."

"Yes sir!" She laughed and got out of the car, slamming the door.

He waited till she had walked past Nick's car and went into the house before he started the engine again. Realizing Nick was in his car he wondered what was up. He was probably the last one any of them wanted to see. With a frown he drove away, deciding maybe some McD's might cheer him up.

Kevin walked inside David's office. It was relatively deserted. His secretary had a back in half an hour sign on her desk and the waiting room was empty. Hearing David's voice he headed down the hallway towards his office, knocking on the partially open door.

E raised an eyebrow as someone knocked. David shrugged, "Yeah?"

"Its Kevin."

"Come on in."

"Hi David...E..." he shut the door behind him, "I have some good news. JC called me."

"Terrific. Although only if they agreed."

"They did. And he said you could tag along...would you mind coming?"

"Not at all...when are we meeting?"

"As soon as we can make it over."

"Then let's go. I'll see you later?" he asked, turning back to E.

"Most likely."

Jenn joined the rest of the wives outside, they were sitting around lost in thought waiting for Ty to wake up. Alec hadn't wanted to wake her, she didn't look like she'd slept much lately.

Nick got out of the car slowly, unsure why he was doing this. Reasoning he did need to get his belongings out of the room, he pulled his keychain out of his pocket and headed slowly towards the door.

David followed Kevin up to the front door of JC's house. "So they're going to talk?" David asked again, he still was surprised they agreed to go along with this.

"I guess so. Well JC is but he has their permission." he rang the bell and glanced around.

The door opened and JC appeared, "Come on in. Don't mind talking here do you?"

"Anywhere's fine with me." Kevin answered, walking inside.

"Were the others hard to convince?" David asked, following Kev.

"A little. But once I said Lou could very easily do the same to us...they came around pretty quickly."

"Don't we all look like hell." Shan commented, glancing over her friends. "Thanks." Alec said laughing a little.

"You know what I mean though."

"Yeah."

Lis glanced up to see Nick watching them from the patio door. Sighing she turned around. "Be back."

Nick moved back as she walked inside. "What?" she asked, taking her sunglasses off.

"You sent Rok out to see me..."

"I didn't send him anywhere. He wanted to talk to you."

"You could have stopped him."

"I didn't know I was your babysitter."

He rubbed his hand over his face, "Can we stop fighting?"

"You tell me."

"Lisa..."

"If you're going to say the same thing again don't bother." she shook her head, "I've heard the line too many times all ready."

"You are so damn infuriating."

"What about you?" she glared at him, "If you're gonna run away from this Nick you're going to leave without me. Now excuse me I'm going back to MY friends."

"What was that all about?" Ty asked as she wandered into the kitchen.

Nick groaned, "We're just fighting. As usual."

"As usual?" she raised an eyebrow, heading over to the cupboard to find something to eat.

He stuffed his hands in his pockets, "Least lately."

She frowned, "Work through it Frack."

"She won't listen to me Ty."

"Nicky I find that hard to believe, but you gotta talk not yell. Now I'm gonna go talk with the girls. You just hang out or whatever k?"

"I was gonna head home."

"Stick around." she patted his shoulder. "Trust me."

Paul walked into the office just as Lou was hanging up the phone, "Am I interrupting?"

Lou shook his head, "No not at all. Just going over some last minute changes to the AJ press releases. We're hoping for a photo to accompany the piece but it'll be just as good without."

"When does it go out?"

"Sunday night at 11:59, should be in every Monday morning paper."

"Congratulations."

"Thank you." he smiled, "How was the meeting?"

Paul frowned, "Howie wasn't too cooperative at first but now...I think he should be quite willing to sign the contract. You have his ready?"

Lou lifted up a folder, "The remaining four contracts are all right here."

"Great. I don't think we'll have to wait that long before Mr. Dorough makes an appearance."
