Chapter 19

Nick was going to leave Michelle alone and let her get back in when she was ready, but after a few minutes, he realized if he didn’t do something, she would be out there in the rain for at least another fifteen minutes – she was very stubborn – and she’d be soaked and probably get sick. Sighing, he calmly got out and walked over to where she was. “Come on, Shelle. Get back in the car. You’re gonna get sick.”

“N-no, I w-won’t,” she stammered. As she stood there shivering, Nick couldn’t help but notice how blatantly sexual she looked. She was wearing a short plaid skirt and knee-high socks with a tight white, now rather see-through short-sleeved button-down shirt. He could easily make out her bra through it. He’d like to get her out of those clothes, feel what it was like to be inside her…

Quickly shaking that image from his mind, he grabbed her arm gently. “I’m sorry I said those things. Come on, get back in the car.”

“No,” she said firmly.

“Please? You’re freezing.”

She couldn’t help but realize how sweet he sounded, but tried to stay mad. “Fine.” She stormed back to the car and got in, him close behind.

Silence took over the car for several minutes before he noticed she was still rubbing her arms. “You’re still cold.”

“I’m fine,” she said stubbornly.

After fishing through the junk in the backseat of his car, he came up with a big sweatshirt he’d left in there. “Put this on.”

“It’ll get all wet.”

“Then take off your other shirt.”

Her jaw dropped. “What the hell makes you think you can tell me to take off my clothes, Carter?”

“Jeez, that’s not what I meant. I’ll turn around.”

“Sorry,” she said quietly, taking the sweater from his hand. “I didn’t mean to be such a bitch.”

“Forget it.” He watched as her fingers undid the top button on her shirt. His eyes lingered on the second one, waiting, before she cleared her throat. They traveled back up to her crimson cheeks.

“Uh, now would be the part where you turn around,” she said.

“Oh, yeah, sorry.”

As she pulled on the sweatshirt, she couldn’t help but notice how much it smelled like him. Exhaling deeply, she tried to think of Jesse, but he wouldn’t stay in her mind. Nick kept stepping in front of him.

“Are you done yet?” Nick grumbled, snapping her out of her trance.

“Oh, yeah, sorry.” Thunder crashed again, and she jumped.

“Come here,” he whispered, pulling her against his chest. “You’ll be all right.”

She looked up and tried to meet his eyes, but they were squeezed shut as he tried to block out the sensations she was causing in him. “Nick,” she whispered. “Kiss me.”

He didn’t need to be told twice. In seconds, his lips were covering hers. She let out a soft moan and reached for the hem of his shirt without even thinking twice. “What are you doing?” he asked.

“I…I don’t know,” she replied. Guilt flooded over her, but she pushed it aside. “I don’t know, but I don’t wanna stop.” She pulled his shirt over his head.

“Are you sure?” His hands found their way under her shirt and brushed over her breasts.

“God, yeah, I’m sure,” she whimpered. Soon, all their clothes were crumpled on the floor of the car.

He gently eased into her, and she let out a soft cry. “You all right?”

“It’s just…it’s my first time. I’m fine,” she said, biting her lip.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered, pressing his lips to her forehead. He began to pick up rhythm.

“Oh, God, don’t apologize,” she replied breathlessly. “Nick, this is amazing!” Her nails dug into his back, and she turned off her mind. Now was the time to concentrate on feeling, what Nick was doing to her. He let out a deep, throaty groan, turning her on even more. Before she knew it, she let out a loud scream as she came.

He came soon after, and collapsed against her, their entwined bodies soaked in sweat. He buried his face in her neck, and she ran her fingers through his hair. “Are you okay?” he asked.

“I’m perfect.”
