Her heart nearly stopped. She would know that voice anywhere. She spun around to stare into a pair of baby blue eyes. “N-Nick,” she whimpered.
“Are you all right?”
She smiled slightly. “I don’t know, to be honest.”
Without warning, he reached out and pulled her into his arms. “You haven’t left my mind since you got out of the hospital,” he whispered.
“I missed you,” she replied. “I shouldn’t have freaked out like that when you kissed me.”
“No, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have kissed you. I realize now that I was being stupid.” He continued rambling.
She wasn’t actually listening. She took a deep breath and made a decision. “I love you.”
“I know, I was wrong, and-” he stopped mid-sentence. “What?”
“I love you, Nickolas.”
A grin slowly spread across his face. “I love you, too, Heather.”
She smiled back, for the first time since she was in the hospital, and threw herself into his arms. “I was hoping you’d say that.”
