"That's fine. Come on, we need to talk," Liz said, dragging him into the living room.
"You're breaking up with me? But, Liz, I love you! I didn't mean to be late!" he exclaimed.
"No, I'm not breaking up with you, not unless you want to," she replied. "Sit down."
"Okay..."
"This isn't easy for me to say, but...well, it's happened again, Nick," she whispered.
"What's happened again?"
"I'm pregnant."
"B-by me?"
"Yes, I'm so sorry. I should have been more careful about taking my pills on time," she said, breaking down into tears. "What are we going to do, Nick? I don't want to get an abortion, and I can't carry a baby and then have to give it to someone else."
He wiped a few tears away from her face and put his arm around her, pulling her against his shoulder. "Babe, what makes you think I wouldn't be happy about this?" he asked.
"Well, you're Nick Carter, teen idol. Your girlfriend can't be pregnant." She sighed. "Maybe I should stress myself out or something again."
"No," he said firmly. "I'm happy about this. This isn't like last time, Liz. We're together now, and I'm not with someone else who also claims to be pregnant. I want to keep it."
"You - you do?" she sniffled.
"Yes. It's a symbol of you and me, of our love. We've been together for a year and a half, baby, and we've known each other for two and a half years. In that time, we've been through so much together. I think we can withstand anything, and I'm sure we can raise a baby."
"You mean that?"
"Of course I do," he said, kissing a tear on the tip of her nose. "I love you."
"I love you, too."
Suddenly, an idea struck him. He smiled, and his eyes began to sparkle. "We're in Vegas."
"So?"
"So let's get married!"
"What, Nick? You're insane!" she exclaimed.
"No, I'm not. I love you, you love me, you're pregnant. We should get married. Then after we have our baby we can have a real wedding."
She laughed. "This is crazy!"
"So?"
"Let's do it," she said. "Just let me clean up a bit and put on some makeup."
