“No, I haven’t. They refuse to talk to me,” Brian muttered bitterly.
Leighanne sat up and looked him in the eye. “Do you really blame them?”
His eyes narrowed. “Don’t start, Leigh. You know I’m just doing what’s best for her.”
“Brian, she really loves him. You can’t deny that. And just look at the way he looks at her. There is no way they aren’t serious,” she stated.
“They don’t know what they’re talking about. They don’t know what love is,” Brian replied.
“What makes you so sure?”
“Why is this so important to you anyway?”
“Because Mattie and Nick are my friends, and it kills me to see them like this. I haven’t seen a true smile from either one of them since you confronted her about the dressing room. They aren’t happy,” Leighanne said.
“What do you want me to do about it, Leigh?”
“I want you to talk to your sister and at least consider letting them be together.”
Brian sighed. “Fine. I’ll think about it.”
“Good,” Leighanne replied.
