Chapter 2

They pulled up to the hotel, and the bellboy brought Madeleine’s bags to her room while Brian took her to find the other guys. She hadn't met them, besides Kevin, yet because every time they came to visit, she was at boarding school. They found Howie and Kevin talking to the bodyguards, and then they found AJ flirting with some girl in the lobby. After checking the pool and the bar, they found Nick playing video games in the arcade. “There’s a big surprise,” Brian teased.

When Nick turned around, Madeleine’s jaw dropped. He was as hot in person as he was in pictures! Most celebrities looked worse in person because they were airbrushed in pictures, but he looked even better! She saw Brian glance at her and she quickly dropped the thought, remembering her promise.

“All right, now I can introduce everyone,” Brian said. “Okay, y’all, this is my little sister and our newest dancer, Madeleine, or Mattie. Mattie, you obviously already know Kevin, and that’s Howie, AJ and Nick.”

“It’s nice to meet you all,” Madeleine said. Each boy kissed her hand, and she was perfectly confident until her eyes got lost in Nick’s.

“It’s nice to meet you, Madeleine,” he said politely. “We’re glad to have you along.”

“She and I are sharing a room, so I’m going to take her up there right now,” Brian said. “We’ll see you guys later.”

“Yeah, bye,” Madeleine called over her shoulder as Brian ushered her into a slow, rickety elevator. This was a nice hotel. Couldn’t it afford elevator repair?

Her thoughts traveled to Nick. If only she weren’t here with her brother… Then maybe she could go for him. Brian’s words echoed in her mind. ‘Mattie, you know I wouldn’t want you to date any of the guys, right?’ Ugh! Those words were going to torture her until the end of the tour!

“Leighanne is going to try to come along for part of the tour,” Brian announced.

“Oh, she is?” Madeleine replied, trying to say it with more excitement than she really felt, but not succeeding. She really liked Brian’s fiancée, Leighanne. She was a drama queen, and she seemed like a major gold digger.

“Don’t sound so enthused, Mattie,” Brian said sarcastically as they stepped off the elevator and began walking slowly down the hall. “I know you don’t like her, but I hope you two can just become friends. She’s a really sweet girl if you just get to know her.” Madeleine remained silent, so Brian continued. “Will you at least try, Mattie? It would really mean a lot to me.”

She sighed. “I’ll try, but I’m not going to promise anything more than that. I just think she’s using you, Brian.”

“I wish you wouldn’t say that,” he said flatly. “I love her. She loves me.”

“How do you know you love her?”

“I don’t know. I’ve never felt this way about anyone before. When I’m with her, it’s like I have constant butterflies in my stomach. When you’re in love, you KNOW. And I’d really appreciate it if you wouldn’t badmouth her so much.”

“Why don’t we just drop the conversation for now, Brian? I want to have fun on my first day and not get into an argument with you,” she stated.

“Okay, that sounds fair. This is our room,” he said, stopping in front of a door and sliding a keycard into the slot. The green light flashed, and she followed him inside.

When he turned on the light, she nearly fainted. “Holy shit, Brian! This room is amazing!”

“Language, please?” he reminded her. “I’m not used to hearing my little sister talk like that.”

“Oh, sorry. Holy cow, Brian! This room is amazing!” she corrected herself. She was right. The door opened to a hallway, which led to small kitchen at the end on the right. On the left, there was a door to a small living room with a TV and a stereo system, both of which had surround sound, and a comfortable looking couch. There was a door on either side of the hallway. One of them led to Brian’s bedroom, the other to Madeleine’s. She opened up hers to discover a huge, king sized bed with four feather pillows, a loveseat, and another television. “I’m going to be so spoiled for the next few months!”

“You’re going to have an awesome time, Mattie!” Brian exclaimed. “You’ll love it on tour.”

“I’m sure I will,” she replied. Brian was right. Even though she couldn’t actually go after him, she was going to have an awesome time drooling over Nick the entire time.
