“I don’t know. I haven’t performed in so long, and I’m used to being able to make mistakes,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
He grabbed her hand to find she was shaking. “Madeleine, relax. You know you’ll do great.” He kissed her lovingly on the forehead and wrapped his arms around her trembling body, which barely calmed her at all. “Just think of it as being a rehearsal. Forget the other people. Think of it as being you and me and the rest of the guys and dancers.”
“Okay,” she conceded.
As Madeleine stepped out for the first song, she was amazed at the fan turnout. It hadn’t been this huge in Europe, and the European fans went nuts over the Backstreet Boys. Remembering Nick’s advice, she forgot about the crowd and launched into the routine.
Of course, the show went great. There were a few mistakes, but that was bound to happen the first night back. As soon as Nick got backstage, he grabbed his girlfriend and swung her around. “You did great, Mattie. I’m so proud of you!”
“Good job, everybody!” Kevin cheered. “I think we impressed everyone.”
“So now we’re on our way to Fort Lauderdale, right?” Howie asked.
“Yeah,” Kevin said. “We go to Fort Lauderdale and then to Orlando.”
“This is gonna be a good tour, guys!” Brian exclaimed.
