Chapter 33

Kevin closed his book and listened carefully to Nick and Madeleine. “I didn’t think those two were capable of fighting!”

“Apparently, they are, because I can’t imagine that could be anything other than an argument,” AJ stated. “Good Lord, they’re gonna break the windows!”

“Brian, do you know what’s going on?” Kevin asked.

“No, I’m still thinking about MY argument with Mattie,” Brian replied.

“Gosh, she’s pissing everyone off today,” AJ said.

Hearing the shouts, Howie awoke from his nap and rubbed his eyes. “What on earth is going on in there? World War III?”

“Nick and Mattie are fighting over something. We don’t know-” Kevin shut his mouth as Nick stomped into the living room.

“Dude, what the hell happened?” AJ inquired.

“She’s being a bitch.”

“I couldn’t agree with you more,” Brian muttered. “That girl is driving me up a wall.”

“I’m lost. What exactly happened?” Kevin asked.

“Long story!” “Don’t ask!” Brian and Nick exclaimed simultaneously.

Everyone stared at Nick quizzically, much more interested in his argument than Brian’s. Finally, Nick spoke up. “She apparently doesn’t care about me at all.”

AJ opened his mouth to say otherwise, but decided it would be better for him to say it when Nick was cooled off. Anything he said right now was going to go in one ear and out the other.

Just then, they pulled up to the hotel, and Nick went to find his room immediately. The second he got there, he flung himself on the bed in tears. He hadn’t wanted any of the guys to see him cry, but he couldn’t help it now. As stupid as Madeleine was being, he didn’t know how long he could go without her, but he had ended it. She didn’t care about him. Luckily, they didn’t have a performance that night. He was going out and getting drunk.
