“I-”
He was cut off by Loryn’s sugary voice. “Nicky, who is it?”
Knowing he was in big trouble, Nick tried to back into the room and lock Brian out, but Brian pulled him into the hall and slammed the door. “What the hell is she doing in your room?”
“I don’t know,” Nick mumbled.
“What do you mean, you don’t know? Madeleine hasn’t stopped crying since she saw you two making out in the hall last night, and now you don’t know why you did anything with her in the first place?”
“Whatever. Mattie doesn’t give a damn about me one way or the other.”
“Are you blind? Dammit, Nick, she loves you! She was crushed when she saw you guys.”
“Shit,” was the only word Nick could get out of his mouth.
“I can’t believe you would do that to my sister. She trusted you. I trusted you!”
“I’m sorry.”
“Yeah, well, sorry isn’t gonna make my sister feel any better.” Brian paused. “And as far as I’m concerned, you and I are no longer friends. You are my bandmate, but we have no need to associate beyond that on any personal level. I told you not to hurt her.” With that, he stormed back to his room to check on Madeleine.
