Loryn stepped up behind him and placed her hands on his shoulders. “What’s wrong, baby?”
Trying desperately to remain calm, he turned around and shrugged her hands off. “Last night was a drunken mistake, Loryn. I wouldn’t have slept with you in a sober state if you were the last female on earth.”
“Ooh, harsh, Nicky. You don’t really mean that,” she said, throwing herself into his arms.
“I swear to God, Loryn, if you don’t get the hell off me, I cannot be held responsible for what I may do,” he said through clenched teeth.
Her jaw dropped as she tried to comprehend the idea of someone not wanting her. “You’ll be sorry, Nicky. I’ll make sure of it.”
“Too late, I already am sorry for sleeping with you,” he muttered.
She stormed off without replying, leaving him to stare at his lost love once again. “Oh, Madeleine, why did I hurt you?” he mumbled to himself.
Just then, Kevin tapped on his shoulder. “We’re on in five.”
Throughout the whole concert, Madeleine seemed full of life and energy, making Nick wonder if she really was as upset as Brian said she was. No way. He was suffering a lot worse than she was. She didn’t care.
