“Thanks, so I’ve heard,” she replied, not looking up to see his face. Deciding to buy it, she turned around to stare into a pair of the greenest eyes she’d ever seen. She couldn’t help but be reminded of when she’d met Nick, how she got lost in his eyes that first time, but she quickly erased that thought. Things with Nick were long gone. Finally, she managed to tear her eyes away from the ones before her, and she studied the rest of the guy. He was tall, with spiky brown hair and tan skin, and my God, was he built! He was, without a doubt, one of the most attractive men she had ever seen close up.
“Hey. My name is Brad,” he said, holding out his hand. She shook it.
“I…I’m Mattie,” she replied, finding her voice.
“It’s nice to meet you, Mattie. Say, would you like to go get something to eat? There’s an Applebee’s right next to the mall,” he suggested.
She grinned. “I would love to.”
