She must have dozed off, because before she knew it, she was waking up to feathery kisses all over her face and Nick. Giggling, she opened her eyes. “What are you doing?”
“I can’t get enough of you,” Nick replied, sliding back into bed next to her.
She snuggled up next to him and rested her head on his chest. “Can we just stay here forever? I don’t wanna go out there and face reality.”
“That would be nice,” he said, “but I don’t think people would like that too much.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I’m sure. Sorry, babe.” He paused. “I wanna ask a question, but before you answer, I want you to know I’ll support whatever your answer is. You told me last night you were happy with Brad, and I don’t wanna mess that up for you. By no means do I expect you to end things with him just because of me. So now I’m gonna ask my question. What exactly was last night?”
She sighed. “I’m not entirely sure. I love you so much, Nick. God, you have no idea. But I am with Brad. I cheated on my boyfriend last night.”
“So…”
“So I think I need some time away from both of you to just think things out. Brad is going on vacation with some guy friends next week. I was gonna go with him, but from the beginning, I’ve been worried about missing school, and I never actually told him I was going, so I can just tell him I need to stay home.”
“Okay, I understand.”
She kissed him on the forehead. “Thank you, Nick.”
