Astray-Devoid of Compassion
Date: ?/?/99
Humanity turns its back on its own,
seems true colors have been shown.
Doesn't anyone care anymore
when the helpless show at the door?
How many times does it have to be
before people will wake up and see,
just how horrid we've grown
since our morals were all thrown?
A bomb drops in a land far away,
over here it's just another day.
Six o'clock news comes on each night,
the usual hooks we all love to bite.
It is about the war over there?
No, its who here owns the biggest share.
The end could be dropping down on our heads,
but we wouldn't know it until we're dead.
Desensitized is what we are
don't care what happens if its far
from our close-knit towns and homes.
Minds have formed a collective tomb,
while ego, greed rush to take the place
where once was thought now empty space.
Consumed by petty desire, nothing left to say
when will we realize we've all gone astray?
