Lost - Ode to a Friend
Date: 12/5/00
Take the bad things,
take it all.
Suck it up,
and prepare for the fall.
Never learn, never change,
take the blame...
If no one cares,
then it's all the same.
Hold it in, keep them out.
Can't let them see,
let them know
what you're all about.
But I know, you know I see.
Dig through the dirt,
sift through the lies,
find something else underneath.
Close the doors, seal the vault,
too close for comfort,
too close to halt -
Someone's in, and it's your fault.
Shrug it off, it's nothing new.
You can push this one away, too.
Hide away in your cell,
don't need him, you've got yourself.
You hold your head high,
you still get beaten down.
Fix it up again,
and keep living the lie.
You've lost yourself,
where you can't find you.
You can't break your barrier
but no one else can get through.
