She loved to watch the lights of the city from her penthouse balcony. Bright lights hiding a world of sin and decadence. A world she inhabited. A far cry from the world she had come from. The shy withdrawn teenager was no longer visible in the poised, elegant, confident woman she had become. Innocence was the price she paid for her transformation. Revenge fueled her every waking moment. HE would pay. HE had taken her innocence and discarded it as if it were nothing. She would destroy him. The angel. The moral one. All smiles and jokes in public hid his arrogance and depravity in private.
His rejection of her burned in her blood, fueling her to change. She grew a spine. An iron will that carried her through years of transformation, painful but necessary changes. She no longer saw her family anymore. She couldn't. She stayed in the shadows, underground, in secret, plotting. Helping others who had been broken like her, by men like him.
Aj had seen her crying the day that Brian had rejected her. He had helped her that day. Aj had a girlfriend at the time, but the young, shy girl had touched something in him. He had shown her passion the way it should have been. She dissapeared the next morning. He had broken up with his girlfriend in the hopes that Heidi would take him as her own, but she simply vanished. Until a few years ago. A phone call from her and his entire life changed. She wanted him to be the first in her organization. She explained the concept to him and asked him to get the other members involved. Except Brian. Brian was NOT to know. He asked her if this had something to do with what Brian had done to her all those years ago.
Her voice was cold as steel as she uttered the one word. Yes. Would he help her ruin Brian? AJ was undecided for over a month. The man had been his friend at one time, but he'd never forgotten Brian's callousness with Heidi. AJ let his love for her make his decision. AJ was stunned at the beautiful woman who greeted him when he asked to meet with Heidi. He told her that he had wanted more than just one night with her and he visibly saw the wall go up behind her eyes. They were different people now. She couldn't let anything cloud her head, not emotions. Not love. Nothing could distract her from her plan. AJ held off his answer, telling her he had one condition before he agreed.
"I want one night with you," AJ demanded. Heidi had been about to shake her head, but stopped. She would not allow herself to feel anything for anyone, never again. She had to be able to be hard as steel, strong and vicious. She could not allow love to be a part of sex if she had any hope of success. She could test herself with AJ. She could learn to be cold with him so she could survive and make her plan reality. "Alright," she nodded slowly, her hand trembling around the stem of the wine glass. "Just sex. I don't want anything else."
"Understood," AJ agreed.
