It was a hot summer's night and Lauren Leone decided to go swimming at the community pool. She put on her leopard bikini and wrapped a towel around her body. She walked to the pool to find that there were not many people there; it was just her very best friend and a few strange faces she has never seen before. Lauren walked up to her friend Brittany Shannon and began a conversation.
"What brings you here so late Britt? Don't you have to work tomorrow morning?" Lauren asked.
"Yeah, but I needed to come for a swim...you know, to relax."
"Oh, I see. I decided to do the same."
"Well Lauren, I should get going...I'd stay and chat, but I need to get some rest." Brittany stood up.
"Yeah, okay. Have a good day at work tomorrow! And don't forget that we have plans tomorrow night."
"Thanks, I will try to! And I know...7:00 p.m. sharp!" Brittany said sarcastically.
"Okay then, bye."
After a half hour, Lauren decided to get out of the pool and go home but she didn't; something was stopping her. Instead, she pulled out the book she had been reading for the past week and started to read chapter sixteen. The book was so good that she could not put it down. Suddenly, a splash came from the water, but it was just some one who jumped into the pool. She looked to see if it was anyone she knew, but it wasn't. This person caught her eye; she couldn't help but stare at him (never mind the book.) This guy started to get out of the pool, so she avoided any eye contact. He was medium height, had dark eyes, dark hair, a few tattoos...what you would call sexy. (Well, at least Lauren thought so.)
"Is that a good book?"
Lauren looked to her right and there he was. "Uh, yes it is." She could barely breathe.
"Well it doesn't seem like it to me, either that or I am very interesting." He laughed.
"What are you talking about?" Lauren swallowed hard.
"You kept staring at me...so that's why I asked. Anyway, my name is Alex, but you can call me AJ." He reached out his hand to hers.
"Nice to meet you, my name's Lauren." She shook his hand.
"Same here. What is a beautiful lady like you doing out this late by yourself? Shouldn't you be with your boyfriend?"
"I came out here for a swim. "
"Okay, I understand that, but how come your boyfriend didn't tag along?" AJ was making the moves, but Lauren was totally clueless.
"Probably because I don't have one." Lauren giggled.
"Oh that's why! Well, what do you say I walk you home?"
"Sure, why not?" Lauren was overwhelmed. She picked up her book, put her towel around her waist and the two of them left the pool area. They walked together, but they weren't talking very much. As they passed Brittany's house, Lauren looked up at Britt's window. Her lights were out and she could tell Britt was sleeping. She would just have to wait to tell her the good news about the terrific guy she'd met.
"Well here's my house."
"That was fast. I wish the walk could have been longer."
"Yeah, me too." Lauren smiled, not knowing what to say.
"Well Lauren, it was such a pleasure meeting you. Maybe we could do this again sometime."
"I'd love that. Thanks for walking me home."
"No problem." He smiled and walked down the steps.
As AJ walked down the street, Lauren stood on her front porch watching him. Wow, she thought, he is incredible. Lauren walked inside changed into her night gown and lied down on her bed. For awhile, all she could think of was AJ, but she eventually fell asleep.
