Her and Anna wrestled a mattress into one of the rooms and sat down to take a break.
"Hey, have you seen Brian or Nick in the past 20 minutes?" Anna said itching her ankle.
"No, I haven't. And that's strange since I have seen everyone else." Leigh said making a you-know-what-they're-doing face.
The girls sighed and got up, and headed towards the game room. Sure enough Brian and Nick were sitting in there, eating a sub and talking about a new car Nick wanted.
"Ahem, what are you doing Mr. Carter? You have a house full of people moving your stuff into your house, and your sitting on the floor relaxing? Get up." Leigh said crossing her arms pretending to be mad.
"Well I figured you could do it since you like doing all that decorating stuff. And it is our house." he said wrapping his arm around her shoulders.
"I'm not falling for it Nick. Get your ass out there and help." she said as she turned around.
Nick smirked, "What can I say, I love girls with attitude."
"I heard that!" Leigh yelled from the study.
Nick laughed and they all headed out to the living room to grab some furniture.
Hours later they were pretty much all settled. Kevin had not come because he was busy doing promotional stuff, and Howie had left a half hour before. So AJ, Anna, Brian, Nick and Leigh were left at the house. They decided to all get in the hot tub outside, since their muscles were sore from moving all day. AJ and Brian used a pair of Nick's swimming shorts, and Anna borrowed one of Leigh's bathing suits.
"Now this feels nice." Anna said as she slipped into the hot tub.
She sat down next to Brian and laid her legs across Nick's knees.
"No, no Anna, really. Make yourself comfortable." Nick said sarcastically as she put her legs on him.
She giggled and laid her head back.
Leigh came out a few minutes later, with five sodas and towels. She hopped in the hot tub and sat down next to Nick. Then she pushed Anna's feet off of him and placed hers were Anna's were.
"You know, Brian is yours, Nick is mine." Leigh said smiling a fake smile.
Anna laughed and put her hands in Brian's underneath the water. Leigh laid her head of Nick's chest and closed her eyes. Nick ran his hand over her hair and kissed her on the head.
"It would be a shame is she fell asleep and drowned." Anna spit out.
Leigh sat up to say a rude remark but she caught a glimpse of AJ, who seemed really sad. She let go of Nick and floated next to AJ. She nudged against him.
"What are you thinking so hard about?" she asked.
"Nothing."
"What, some girl you think is hot won't go out with you?" Nick snickered.
"Shut up Carter." AJ said sternly.
Nick was going to say something else Leigh gave him a look.
"Nick, shut up." she said sensing something was really bothering AJ.
As all of this was going on, no one noticed Brian and Anna giving each other a sweet kiss.
"Get a room." Leigh muttered.
Anna just laughed, "I think it's time to get going."
Brian and Anna stood up and started drying off.
"Yeah, I gotta go too." AJ said standing up.
"Uh uh, I gotta talk to you." Leigh said holding on to his arm.
Brian and Anna left after the girls said goodbye. AJ, Nick and Leigh headed inside.
"Sorry about earlier." Nick said before heading upstairs.
"It's okay." AJ said.
Leigh lead AJ to the couch and sat down with him.
"Okay, what's up?" Leigh asked.
"Your the one who wanted to talk."
"AJ..." Leigh said in an annoyed voice.
"Okay, I am just ... lonely, I guess. I haven't had a steady girlfriend for over a year. And when I see how you and Nick, and Anna and Brian are so happy, it's just hard." AJ confessed.
"I'm really sorry to hear that J ... I have an idea though. There is this girl, named Natalie who is my friend from one of my classes. She's 20, very nice, smart and pretty. She always reminds me of you actually. You guys have the same attitude and your both um, unique." Leigh laughed, "So I can invite her over tomorrow and you can just show up, it will be like love at first site, I know it."
"I don't know..." AJ said resisting the idea.
"What do you have to lose?"
"Nothing. I will be here tomorrow at..." AJ said getting up.
"11 am. Goodnight AJ." Leigh said going upstairs.
"Night." he said excited for the next day, as he left.
That night, Nick fell asleep quickly but Leigh tossed and turned since it was the first night in a new house. She got out of bed and went to the balcony. She laid her arms on the railing and looked out at the view. A few minutes later she felt Nick's warm arms wrap around her.
"Hey." she said softly.
"What are you doing out here?" Nick asked sleepily.
"Can't sleep."
Nick kissed her cheek, "I'll be right back."
He let go of her and walked into one of the bedrooms. The soft opening notes of 'If I Don't Have You' came from the house and Nick came back out with a smile. He wrapped his arms around her and they began to sway to the music.
"I love you Nick."
"I love you too."
